I think the price reductions of Teslas have a lot to do with this. When their prices go down, other OEMs will want to follow suit to stay competitive. That means lower profit margins for both new and used EVs, and massive depreciation for those trying to sell their current EVs.
I personally love the idea of trying to make an EV as efficient as possible with its ultra-dynamic concept (I’m looking at you GMC Hummer), but given all the details from ZeroWashu’s earlier post, Aptera probably won’t be the one taking off with this idea.
The Aptera reminds me a lot of the DeltaWing, a triangular race car that used half the fuel, weight, and tires to go at basically the same speed as heavier race cars. If a more experienced OEM could forward an EV similar to the Panoz road-going concept or Nissan’s version it may at least sell enough units to prove the same point the DeltaWing did.
