I hate this argument, because videogames themselves are completely optional and unnecessary. That’s the whole point of them, they’re just for entertainment, to have fun and enjoy playing them. So I don’t see how something being cosmetic makes any difference.

It’s more like we didn’t like pay2win on online games, so they started making it “just cosmetic” in those, and somehow now people think it’s acceptable to have to pay for parts of a game they bought, in every game ever?

Well, people waste their money on useless crap all the time, so I guess I’ll just be the cranky old lady and go back to playing my original AoM, where I’m actually playing a game and not an advertisement.

Fair enough, and it is definitely bigger. But in my mind, systems that get no engagement from me are systems that don’t exist, therefore making the game smaller.

What I particularly hate is the catacombs and other recycled open world stuff in Elden Ring. I’d much rather have another Sekiro sized game with a lot of quality than a 100h+ game I’ll only play once, because replaying anything more than the main progression path feels like a chore but it still gives you loot.

Ubisoft padding doesn’t count for length for me. I ain’t getting the 27000 collectibles, AC is 20h long not 200h long.

And corporations want people to pay for it but they don’t want to pay for it themselves. It’s almost as if no one likes copyright, but it benefits some ppl more than others.

Medicine: the branded stuff is normally exactly the same but many times the price.

You’d think women would have a higher chance to solve those issues women face that you mention, if only because they actually suffer them.

Well, to add to the OP then, don’t buy always-online games either.

I love Hitman, but fuck IOI for their business model, honestly. They don’t even say they’re going to patch the games to fully work offline in the future, so I don’t expect that to happen.

Okay, and some are really good, like DF or CDDA or OpenTTD… But you’re never going to find a free Dark Souls, a free Baldur’s Gate 3 or a free Return to the Obra Dinn.

So I think it absolutely makes sense paying for quality games like those.

Okay, I’m not an expert so take this with a grain of salt, but my understanding is:

• Gender identity: your “brain sex”, determines what gender you are.

• Gender expression: social stuff like your clothes, how you talk, and other things related to presentation. Doesn’t determine your gender.

• Sex: in a social context, sex is more about primary and secondary sex characteristics and less about reproduction and chromosomes. Many secondary sex characteristics change with hormones, and primary ones can be changed via surgery.

Gender identity cannot be changed, that’d be akin to conversion therapy.

Gender expression can be changed, and it’s part of socially transitioning, but trans people do change their sex through hormones and surgeries.
