  • Thoughts:

    • failing to convert in the red zone 2x in the first quarter let the niners play with the lead after one TD. That basically allowed them to embrace the run and they ran all over us.

    • the 96 snaps the defense played last week really showed. The second they had to play more than a single set of downs they looked so slow.

    • the niners o-line is bad and after the first half they were bullying our d-line. The rest discrepancy was massive.

    • hurts looked good but made some dumb mistakes trying to play hero ball. A nine step drop needs to have dump route. They got cocky in they second quarter trying to hit explosives and it cost them. He consistently had all day in the pocket. Maybe that is johnson’s fault.

    • we miss dallas goedert on intermediate routes and blocking.

    • alex kemp can go fuck himself. It’s no longer a fluke that we consistently lose games his crew. What happened to ny having refs pick ip flags? We’re ejecting security personnel when they get swung at?

    • next week playing dallas on along rest will also suck.

    • idk about desai or johnson. It feels Like they make life hard for the players sometimes. Sometimes they seem smart. Sometimes just lost.

    • we abandoned the run way too early and it cost us.

Edit: hurts is 3 rushing tds from the record and thank god he’s healthy.

I would add this has been like the 7th or 8th reshuffling of the secondary in almost as many games. Slay and Bradberry need to know when they can expect to have safety help to do their jobs effectively.

I think the dolphins game was the game where we had the most stability in the secondary going into a game other than week 1. Slay was back from injury. We had sort of figured out a stop gap at nickel. Blankenship was out, but we had brown at safety, where he had regularly been getting reps. And edmonds had been playing consistently all season. To some extent I think it was the first time all season Desai knew what he could expect from the secondary and the secondary knew what they could expect from each other.

This week we added byard to the mix and had Brown splitting reps at nickel with ricks. Blankenship is back but not 100%. We traded away Edmunds. I think adding byard was good long term but its not surprising that his first week in a new system lead to some growing pains for the secondary. Hopefully this week Blankenship gets a little healthier.
