It’s ok to take it off.
It’s ok to take it off.
It definitely comes into play with pretty much any “gear” related hobby, from headphones and speakers, to musical instrument gear, to making a car go faster. Guitar players spend tons of money trying to get that little extra something special in their sound.
It’s unfortunate from a few angles. 1) you spend less time enjoying the stuff that is already plenty good, instead fretting about how it could be better, researching, reading, and otherwise not doing the hobby that one claims to be so interested in. 2) it’s a big waste of money. Some people have a lot of money, but tons of people over extend themselves financially on their hobbies, for increasingly minor ‘improvements’. 3) it can feed a consumerist and elitist mindset in other areas on one’s life. If I’m so discerning about hobby x, then I must be very smart and have great taste, and will need to spend a lot of money in other stuff too.
Diminishing returns is most tangible to me with music instruments, of which I’m most familiar with guitar gear and synthesizer. Everyone Really knows that actually practicing / recording / sing writing is the most important thing to “sounding good”, but it’s a lot easier to obsess about how to spend another $200 or $2,000 and Then I’ll finally feel comfortable and actually write a song.
It’s a little less obviously dumb with headphones, but just listen to music. I know a ton of people on here use AirPods more than anything else because they are convenient and sound fine.
I had a 5 and got a 9, but has the same thought that maybe the “x” is worth waiting for. I’m glad I got a 9 because the battery life is so much better, it charges way faster, it has an O2 sensor (I learned I probably have sleep apnea), and I upgraded to the cellular version which gives more flexibility and is a safety feature.
Now that I realize the battery is completely fine with the 9, I’m glad I didn’t wait or get an ultra. The most likely major improvement with a large generation jump is improved battery life, and a somewhat different design.
There are rumors of non specific high / low blood pressure (not actual measurements), which sounds like no big deal for my use. Glucose seems to be years away still. If they blow it out of the water with the x, I’ll trade in my 9 for it, but I doubt that will be necessary.
I set the schedule to a wide range, in case I go to bed early or sleep in / fall back asleep. I don’t have to manually turn on sleep focus at night, but do ‘manually’ turn it off on the phone in the morning when I’m fully awake. I try to keep a regular sleep schedule but this works for me and is flexible.
I’ve never had the 6xx or 650, but have used the 600 for at least 10 years mostly for music production. I think the consensus is the hd600 are more “honest”. The 650 adds some bass but aren’t as accurate / correct etc. The 600 might be a little bass light but are a legit reference point.
That’s my understanding at least. I get pretty good results with making music that “translates” with the 600. That’s mostly from spending a ton of time with them, but says something about their correct-ness.
I would be curious to try the 660s2, but am not going to bother any time soon.
I found out I have sleep apnea with my Apple Watch, which is a pretty big deal.
It helps with fitness stuff / motivation.
That’s a lot of deep sleep
Have you considered the possibility that you have sleep apnea?
I’ve only seen one once irl. It looked cool, but it was on a big dude and still looked pretty large, a little over the top in an office setting.
I was interested in the ultra’s long battery life but it would be too much watch for my arm. I went from s5 to s9 and the battery life is fine, really especially given how fast it charges.
Same. It’s going into the rotating binge bucket. I’ll get it again in one month increments when a new good series / season is fully released.
I have the original HomePod and thought it sounded pretty bad compared to Sonos products. By far my most disappointing Apple purchase.
This sub is so aggressive with downvotes, negative people in here. I believe the previous person was suggesting an Ultra is better than Apple Care because its glass is more scratch resistant and designed to withstand more of a beating, making Apple Care unnecessary.
Downside is it’s huge as hell.
