tartan2BtoChicago Bears@nfl.community•Bears get to 7 wins, your opinion on running this back another year is...English1·2 years agoI don’t know why you would think it’s realistic for us to win 4/4 winnable games to close the season when we’ve won, like, 3/7 winnable games to open the season
tartan2BtoChicago Bears@nfl.community•If Eberflus is fired next year, who would you want to come take over the defense play-calling?English1·2 years agoI don’t think Dennis Allen is gonna get fired, but if he does I would be all over him
tartan2BtoChicago Bears@nfl.community•If this was the draft... How would you feel?English1·2 years ago“How would you feel if the Bears got an incredibly well regarded prospect at two of the most important positions in football”
This sub: Eh…pretty lousy…
Going into tonight, I thought the Giants had the best shot at #1 with Jones out, but hoo boy the Panthers looked a lot worse than I expected them to. It’ll be an interesting race down the stretch for sure.
I’m cautiously optimistic that Kyler rips off a few wins for Arizona, so hopefully it’s just us and New England duking it out for the #3 pick.
Even if things don’t fully break our way, there’s shaping up to be a really good crop of 7-8 players at the top of this draft, so as long as we get two cracks at those guys then I’m happy.
- Roquan is great
- He wouldn’t look like an impact player here because we wouldn’t be using him as smartly as Baltimore is
- The Roquan trade was fine considering the circumstances
- The Edmunds signing was probably a mistake, but it’s not like it was completely illogical to go after an atypically young free agent who ostensibly “fit the system” of your head coach, who previously coached arguably the most valuable off-ball linebacker in the league
- It’s silly to complain about the AAV of the Edmunds signing without also acknowledging that it was structured in a way that we could easily get out of it after the 2024 season, which is full two seasons earlier than Roquan’s contract allows for
- Edmunds is probably suffering to at least some degree from the same problems that made Roquan look pedestrian under Eberflus
- The Edwards signing was real good
- Eberflus’s defensive system stinks and we need to replace him with someone who has a more dynamic and/or adaptable philosophy so we can maximize the skills of the players we have rather than hunting for The Perfect Fit at every position
There, I think that should cover all the angles of the Roquan Smith conversation. Now we never need to have it ever again
tartan2OPBtoChicago Bears@nfl.community•[Russini/The Athletic] Commanders are listening to offers on Chase Young and Montez Sweat. They want a second-rounder but have only received offers in the third-round range.English1·2 years agoAlso being reported via CBS that the expectation around the league is that the Commanders end up trading one of the two.
I thiiink I’d be willing to give up our third for Young, and it seems like there’s a decent chance that’s still a competitive offer by the time the deadline rolls around. (Although I wouldn’t be surprised if a contender was ultimately willing to offer up their second for either Young or Sweat, which I would not want us to try to beat, given how high our pick is likely to land.)
Ah yeah, I looked at the boxscore and just picked the guy who had the majority of the passing volume. Don’t think it really changes the underlying point though
