This is one of the things I think that is the reason I really like devils panties. The whole diary format allows for funny sometimes, opinion, politics, and just a nuance for things you see. Every so often I see something on how anything is not enough or pointless in some way. Voting, protesting, boycotting. I love the way the artist can convey things with the comic.
Can’t say I’m a big fan of her comics. To me, they always seem like a child who has suddenly found themselves in their early 20’s and thinks they have the world figured out but then also complains about how hard “adulting” is.
I think a big example is the comic she did about the Feb 28 “economic blackout” which hardly anyone knew about and even less followed. It showed her character, in rain booots, angrily stomping on boxes with company logos saying “We have the power!”
I get what she was trying to convey, but considering how poorly planned and how little of an impact the blackout would have, to me it just came off as a child in rain boots, throwing a temper tantrum, without even being able to vocalize what they’re actually upset about; let alone have a meaningful response to.
I think you may be overanalyzing it. Sometimes artist might have a lazy week, comic idea is less refined or thought out, just quick thoughts drawn on paper to keep on schedule.
It just happens when you yourself or external factors such as funding set deadlines.
Sometimes an art piece you yourself thought very good just doesn’t hit for others.
Look at iconic comics like Garfield, Peanuts, whatever, not every strip is a stroke of genius - some are plain bad
Why does the planning of it matter on her comic? She was just a participant not a planner. I felt the need to put this whole preamble on the last one because so many people treated it like her comic was an announcement about it as opposed to what it was. Which is her comic is a diary and since she was participating she made a nice artistic thing to represent it. Her comic is intended to be a bit childlike as it often blends reality with mind characters. The inner devil, angel, child, and brute are all regulars now. I actually like that. Showing that internal struggle of the mind we all have. She doesn’t actually beat people with clubs but she feels like that sometimes. etc.
