Was it MCL, ACL?? I know it’s a ligament tear.
Regarding his return, what are the realistic expectations… Is he done?
The “realistic” hope, was/is that - Now that he has a season to get right - He can play maybe 60-70 games, maybe 20 MPG’s, for the next/last two years of his contract.
The early reports were there was a short term fix and a long term solution. Robert+the team went with the season ending surgery. Personally I am glad they shut him down for the year to get him right. Not going to tell anyone how to fan but I would prefer the team go for as many ping pong lottery balls as possible the next two seasons then make a run at things and see where they stand.
He’s 26 and under contract for two seasons after this one. So no
What does his contract length have to do with anything?
My understanding is that the kneecap dislocation tore his medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL).
68% of athletes return to the same level of play after surgery.

I think so tbh, at least done in the sense he’s never going to play a healthy season.
He’s played 6 years and he’s averaging 35 games a season lol.
If this was his first injury, that would be one thing. Given that this is a reccuring problem, I think it safe to write him off as ever being an asset to the team.
I feel sorry for the guy, but the blunt truth is that we got hosed by the Celtics in this deal. Jrue is a very valuable player, whereas Williams is dead weight and we would be lucky to flip Brogdan for a couple of 2nd round picks. It is absurd to think this was the best deal on the table for a player as valuable as Jrue.
