I didn’t really read the article, but I think it’s worth pointing out a good reason why Teslas aren’t stolen. In addition to the fact that Teslas have tons of camera and inherent GPS tracking, most ‘professional’ car thiefs (non Kia Boyz) are stealing and then exporting the cars to other countries for a profit. Most of these counties don’t have a real EV network or none at all so Teslas and most other stolen EVs are worth significantly less.
So for someone who is stealing for a profit, Teslas are high risk for a much lower reward. They can be stolen, but why steal a Model 3 or even a Model S when you can just steal a Benz, Audi, BMW, Lambo, etc. for a much higher profit?
