In a post from a few days ago, I noticed that someone mentioned that they were afraid to post about their dislike of the Tudor BB58 for fear of downvoting. You know what? The BB is a boring watch that’s not worth the money, and Tudor wouldn’t be half as popular as it is without the connection to Rolex. If Rolexes were as attainable as they were in past years, cut that by a factor of 10. Would you really buy a BB if the reality were that you could just save a little bit more and get a Rolex Submariner? That’s my hot take. What’s yours?

I just can’t unsee that it’s just an Explorer I with massive minute numerals that mismatch the hour numerals from the Explorer. You do you.

I don’t like color-matched date wheels. They’re always difficult to read, and it’s a cop-out toward placating fussy enthusiasts. I like a date with a white wheel that’s easy to read and framed prominently. It’s a useful feature; don’t try and hide it.

    1. I absolutely, positively hate the snowflake hands of Tudor watches. I don’t have any problem with people who like them or like Tudor… but, IMHO, that are UGLY!

    2. Also, Chinese market will be competing with the Swiss market within the next couple of decades.

Actually I genuinely think the Tudors look better than their Rolex counterparts, the submariner just looks cheesy to me.

So I guess that’s my hot take ^

My only other one is I think roman numerals look stupid.

Mechanical tool watches are an oxymoron. A G shock will outperform any 25k watch.

I think the term “tool watch” is more historical than describing present day use case

True, but often people market and discuss them as if they are meant to be tools. A lot of people care a lot about specs and performance and certification in regards to precision, water resistance, etc

Low cost/Chinese homage watches are a low risk way to help downselect between 2 high price watches where you’re unable to buy both.

    I hate Tudors hour hand.

With that large square block. Just make the hands more luxurious and I would have tons of their watches

I don’t like the oversized watch trend. Even if it doesn’t feel heavy on your wrist, I don’t think it looks good at all.

Esthetically, Seiko is the Cole Haan shoes of watches. If you try to be everything, you have no identity or your own.

The Royal Oak, Patek Nautilus and other associated designs are ugly.

Yes Genta contributed a lot to the watch industry but every time I see one I think they look hideous.

I have no idea why you’d pick a Nautilus over another Patek design.

Smartwatches should be included and respected in the world of horology. Obviously I love a mechanical watch more than an apple watch or a pixel watch, but I won’t go so far as to call them toys or reject wearing them as a lover of watches.
