The curious case of Evan Mobley is that he seems like someone that needs a good amount of touches to be good on offense. I don’t want to call him a volume scorer, but in games where they get him going early and often he not only scores a good amount of points but he looks way more confident doing it.
The problem is that he’s the 3rd or 4th option on this team. Donovan Mitchell is an amazing player and I love him on this Cavs team, but I’m worried about how much his Iso ball play has affected development of Mobley and even Garland at some points. I don’t think we have the coaching necessary to be able to balance what everyone is good at and spread the ball around. I’d almost rather they lose games now and get Evan the ball more in order to win more games later where we can go to him and he has a bag and confidence to perform it.
Played patient and everyone contributed pretty well. I’m satisfied with any win
I’m sure the doomers here will find something to bitch about cause that’s Cleveland sports fans for you
Me when the Cavs beat one of the worst teams in the league
Please somebody tell me they saw the Max Strus tomahawk slam (and 1)
Not much to take away from this one, took care of business even if it wasn’t perfect. Excited to get back home and hopefully see some DG and Okoro soon
Mobley fantastic impact on defense, super efficient and crafty finishing, good playmaking with JA, nice rebounding
The Mobley doomer seem quiet lately.
21 pts on 11 shots. Imagine what he could do if he was getting 20 shots every night.
It was great to see some production but he’s still operating almost exclusively in the restricted area with dunks and layups. If he can stretch things out a little more, I agree he should get more touches.
When Mobley has a strong game, we usually win, it feels like. I’m so glad Strus is making it a point of emphasis to look for him.
Also, another effortless night from Donovan. His defense and passing both seem a bit worse this season, but having a scorer like this is still huge for this team.
0 points from Wade in 33 minutes — the definition of suck.
