Come back here and let me know if I was right or wrong lol
Not unlikely, but in a different way compared to last season. He seems to have taken over some point forward duty from Franz.
You can see it when Kelle brings up the ball, last season Franz was always the first to touch the ball then, last game it was usually Paolo.
So I guess the bigger picture is to get him more involved at this stage and Franz more getting open for a 3 or cuts.
Edit: overall I expect more assists from Paolo and an increase in points from Franz compared to last year.
Really like Point Paolo. It’s actually genius how they’re using him if you think about it. He’s getting triple teamed and while the defense is locked in on him, that leaves Franz Curry wide open. Our team being a threat from deep changes things immensely. Teams will eventually have to take us seriously from out there and then guess who’s left open to easily score … LePaolo.
Best case scenario: They’re going to have to pick their poison each and every night with us.
Yup, it’s a bit like the Joker-Game-Plan, only from the PF position. Hope the development in this direction continues and is successful.
totes.
So, my take-away from a strategy like that is simply this: Success depends on guys like Suggs making those open Js.
He’s as close to home as he can get (Seattle) so I always expect him to show out in the PNW.
It’s nice if he does, but I don’t care if Paolo goes off. We know on this sub how good him, Franz, and WCJ are. They are our foundation. I’m looking for Cole, Fultz, Suggs, Harris, JI, Black, Jet, and others to show their skills so we can see if we’re actually the playoff team us homers think we are. The 4 to 7 deep type guys are who will push as into a legit team. We know our core should improve, but Fultz and Suggs especially need to prove if they deserve starting spots.
I don’t think we need to freak out about Paolo’s usage and shot attempts. He’s still drawing fouls, he’s making the right passes. When we were in a slump in the 3rd, he made a couple baskets to get us back in. We have A LOT of depth and play making. Paolo may not put up the same numbers he did last year as often, but he’s still the go to guy when we need to make a play.
He’s basically playing for his hometown fans. I can see it.
I’m not concerned with his game 1. When your best player only takes 6 shots and you win by 30, things aren’t too bad.
