For me it was a female coworker complimenting my Q50 Redsport. Interned at a 3 letter fed agency last summer and one of the other interns who I became friendly with was a mid 20’s former sorority girl - someone you’d never expect to be a car enthusiast. Gave her a ride after work one day since her car was in the shop and immediately after walking up to my car in the garage, started complimenting it. Talked about the VR30TT engine and asked me if the turbos were giving me any trouble, then talked a little shit about how it’s still slower than her car. I asked her what she drove and she had an M2 lol
Driving my Mustang late at night, girlfriend in the front passenger seat, her BFF in the back seat, coming home from a party. I speed up a bit, gf says “baby take it easy,” then her friend chimes in, “whee this is getting me wet!”
8th gen si “ aww it’s cute!” Or when I had a Yamaha r3 it seemed to bring out the mother in every woman “ohh be careful on that thing!” To guys who know bikes “lol why not get an r6 bro or a litre bike!”
“I love your Audi! I want one so bad!”
I drive a debadged 2022 forte GT…
A kid told me my car looks like the batmobile. By far my most favorite compliment.
That’s a nice set of wheels - on my 2023 Santa Fe by my middle aged neighbor 😂😂
Not quite the same, but years ago, I was helping a friend move with my Saturn Ion. Car was a 5 speed manual. So me and my friend’s boyfriend are in the car on the way to her new apartment. I’m dealing with the stop and go traffic as best I can. And then her boyfriend starts with this.
“Are you sure this car isn’t an automatic?”
“You do see me shifting and using the clutch frequently, so yes. I’m sure”
“But the shifts are so smooth!”
He had never been in a stick car with a competent driver before. Guy also knew nothing about cars. He was into IT.
I had a woman run up to me in a parking lot as I was about to get in my car and give me a hug saying that she loved my car. Pontiac Solstice. 72 year old men don’t have strange women give them a hug very often.
I know there’s the (true) saying that women don’t care about cars but I got so much attention from the opposite sex when I had just a Panamera that I felt like king dick.
Whenever I used to get compliments on my old Juke Nismo RS. With how polarizing of a car it is, I expected that to be rare (if ever), but a surprising number of people would give a compliment to me at the gas station. From the general consensus, people enjoyed that it was a car that absolutely did not take itself seriously - nor did I, since I usually referred to it as a “fast frog”. A fun car, and I do miss it sometimes - the manual trans was definitely a “make it or break it” for that car, and I’m glad I got to experience it’s full blown ridiculousness with the stick.
I parked at a target, went in with my kid. Came out and there was like 30 modded cars around it, looked at a few, went to leave and guy said nice car, they usually have a meet a few rows over but saw your car and thought the meet move here. Lol…
