Every time I see this car I always think back to that Top Gear episode and how Jeremy Clarkson was right. It is hideous looking, and despite efforts to make it more aggressive, it still looks like a swollen, tumoerous amphibian.
Putting a Hummer H2 next to an Escalade really sums up how desensitized we are to pointlessly oversized vehicles. When the Hummer H2 came out in the early 2000’s it dwarfed everything, it looked so ridiculous on the road and barely fit in between the lanes. The Escalade/Suburban/Yukon is nearly 2 feet longer and is just as wide as the Hummer and we see them all over the road and don’t really think twice about it.
A kid told me my car looks like the batmobile. By far my most favorite compliment.
I don’t think anyone is surprised by this. Stellantis has been dragging its feet for the past decade while the entire industry passes them by. All of their affordable/economy options are hot dumpster trash and their flagships are crowding dealership lots right now.
What about the Camaro was overpriced?
When the German sports car is considered a great deal compared to the overpriced American sports car. How the turn tables.
I can understand that, unfortunately, where I live we aren’t blessed with mountain roads or canyon drives. It’s more Midwest plains, so even if you want to go 7/10ths the closest place available is the track. I’ve considered moving to the Appalachians or even our West for this opportunity alone.
I don’t understand what Toyota is doing with their performance cars. We all know about the oil pressure issue on the GR86, and the most “track purposed” car they’ve made, the GR Corolla can hardly handle 1 lap of a road course. Did Toyota not think people were going to take their cars to the track and discover that all that talk about track capability was just a marketing ploy?
Don’t know if this counts, but the MT-82 in the Mustangs is knows for having a pos throw out bearing. It’s a $80 part but you need to drop the transmission and remove the clutch system to replace it. $80 part but nearly $800 to replace.
Doug and Matt are probably the best of the best when it comes to automotive journalism. I wish they get more attention on this sub. They talk about cars the way I would talk to a friend about a car.
