These PFF numbers as of 11-17-23:

Player Colton McKivitz Mike McGlinchey
PFF Pass Block Grade 60.5 59.0
PFF Run Block Grade 54.3 72.6
Sacks Allowed 5 5
Total Pressures Allowed 22 33
Hits Allowed 3 4
Penalties 2 8
Contract APY $2.3 million /yr $17.5 million /yr

The obvious drop off has been run blocking. McKivitz is a below average run blocker whereas McGlinchey is an above average run blocker, but McKivitz has been cleaner in pass pro, has committed fewer penalties, and costs significantly less.

Keeping McGlinchey at $17.5 million/yr would’ve been a massive mistake. We were right to move on.

I remember saying “draft Minkah, draft Minkah, draft Minkah” and being pissed when we took McGlinchey instead.

Yes. The value for the money is huge .

I think that’s what a lot of people don’t realize about Brock as well. It’s not that Brock is just playing in a high-level Brock is playing at high-level for a price tag. That is unbelievable.

Anyone else think it’s time to give Jaylon Moore a shot starting at RT? I thought he played decently filling in for Trent at LT, and being a swing tackle he could switch to the right side.

At the absolute least, i don’t think he does any worse than McKivitz. But given how he played filling in at LT, I think he’d be a definite upgrade.

McGlinchey was a solid lineman who would have like 4 or 5 big fuck ups a season.

If he didn’t want to get paid, he would’ve been worth it. But he deserved to get paid a little, so letting him walk was the right move.

Though I’m really curious how he feels about having to block for Russell Wilson…
