More specifically from the standard LCD to the OLED steam deck, the reason I ask if because typically installing a game to an SD card also installs its shader cache, but if you stick the SD card with games on it into another steam deck, surely it won’t take those shader cache’s with them would they? Would the deck just download all the relevant shaders or would it create some sort of issue?

    Plug and Play.

    If you run Linux on your main PC you can even set it up so that you can play off the SD cards, but it’s a bit more fiddly and requires input to do so unlike the steam deck.

    Afaik, the shaders are just redownloaded if they are missing? I think its just plug and play to switch the SD cards between decks, aka it just works (but dont hold me to it) :)

    From what I’ve read about shaders is that they are stored on the ssd by default. So it should redownload all the shaders when you insert your sd in your new steam deck.
