Feels like the way Maxey and Halliburton are playing they’re going to be all-stars and Lillard is in the East.

The way people talk about Brunson is like he’s some elite player. If anything he’s like 9-12th best guard in the league.

I guess fans are just happy to have an above average PG. Really the first since Marbury and the first one with a chance to be an All-Star since our most recent Knicks PG to be an All-Star - Mark Jackson.

32/7/7 and people are still talking about Quickley.

Not to take away from Quickley, he was amazing in the fourth. But Brunson just has these quiet games where he is amazing. I think he’s one of the most underpaid players in the league personally.

He is the best player we have to just give the ball when we’re bleeding and go get us a bucket. He’s not flashy, he doesn’t do big dunks. He lives on the midi with the footwork needed to get there - that’s why he’s underrated.

Brunson’s handles and footwork are flashy but fundamentally great. And he’s shooting threes better than anything this year.

If anything he’s under rated- his impact on the game is something you watch. Timely buckets, great at getting in the paint, great shooter and shot creator as well as he can at least stay in front of his man. Leads the league in charges drawn too. Just because he isn’t a “super star” doesn’t mean he’s not great

Bro - there was like shock by every NBA Analyst last year when Brunson wasn’t given an All Star spot and All NBA (there’s a clip of Eric Spoelstra I think after our series with the heat saying something like “that guy wasn’t an all star, let alone all nba?!”)

Got screwed over bc the fucking Boston bias and them calling someone a guard when clearly is a forward (don’t feel like looking up who)

You are conflating all star status with actual ability, but classifying all stars as PGs and SGs, which is not how it works. So the first question is, is Brunson a top 4 guard in the East? Maxey Hali Spida Jaylen Brown

    • that’s pretty tough to break into. Dames numbers are no better than Brunson’s, so far. The tie break on these is the record for the team, generally. Browns numbers aren’t better than JBs either, but he’s a lock for the ASG. I think Brunson has a shot as a reserve. If he’s at or over 25 pts pg and the Knicks are a top 4 team, I think he’ll make it.

Second question- is he a great player even if he’s not as good as these 4-5 players? I think so. I think he contributes to winning at a great level, esp because he’s so clutch. As a PG he’s not the traditional pass first guard so his assists aren’t that high but that’s also the new NBA with dimes shared around the squad. But his low TOs are amazing, and his handle is great. His defense is not great overall.

You probably think Trae is better than him even though Trae shoots like 30% this season

Brunson may not make a ton of all star teams, he is somewhere near the 30th best player in the NBA right now which is incredibly solid. In the playoffs he is better than 30th. Happy with him as our PG.

Brunson is a winner and his impact to the team is much bigger than his individual stats. You saw what happened to Dallas last season without him, and what happened to the Knicks with him. I’ve been a fan for over 35 years and he’s already one of my favorite all-time Knicks.

Just because there’s a lot of competition for All Star spots at guard doesn’t devalue his talent.

I can’t be anymore clear on this: Brunson is the most important player the Knicks have acquired since Ewing. He’s going to lead us to a championship.
