In 2018 The Daily Telegraph’s sports writers predicted what they believed the top 10 would look like in 2023

They didn’t do a good job

Zverev was ahead of guys like Tsitsipas and Medvedev by a huge amount in 2017. Tsitsipas made his appearance making the final of Montreal 1000 in 2018, which was fairly deep into 2018. Zverev made the tour finals while both Tsitsipas and Medvedev were borderline top 100 players

Terrible writers. Couldn’t even predict sinner, Alcaraz and rune. How stupid can you be? They thought Kyrgios would be a top 10 player? He’s out of the top 100 lolololololol and never even came close to being number 7.

Seriously tho these lists are pretty fine. Everyone thought zverev was the next next thing and he very well could have/still could be

We’re sinner on rune on anyone radar in 2018? I don’t think I’d heard of them then.

Oddly enough, the 2 guys that put Zverev as number 1 have the least crazy top 10. The 2 other guy’s top 10 are complete lunacy. One has Dimitrov as #1 and Benoît Paire as #2 (lmao), the other has Shapovalov as #1 and Hyeong Chung as #2.

For the last 2 lists if they put shapo, Diego and coric much further down those would at least be kind of decent

the biggest dream in my life is zverev winning a GS and getting #1. honestly, even 1 slam is not enough for a player like him. skill wise he SHOULD have won 3-5 slams by now

Vicki Hodges got this statement right: “With age and injury creeping up on Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray respectively, Novak Djokovic will realistically be the last-man standing of the ‘big four’, and managing his schedule to perform well against the younger crop even at the age of 36.”
