This is the deepest QB draft in maybe 3 decades. 6 guys could go in round 1. We would be idiots to not draft a QB in round 1. We will likely not have the opportunity to pick this high again. If we don’t take a QB now our chances of finding “the guy” dwindle significantly and we could be facing years of mediocrity.

The stats are clear- the vast majority of top QBs come from the top half of round 1. This is our chance and we can’t blow it. Sorry MHJ fans we need to let him go and pick a QB even if he isn’t named Maye or Williams.

If we take MHJ or a tackle round one we will be mediocre for years and have a very hard time finding a QB without either totally tanking another season or trading away the future to move up into a top 5 pick. Retread vets like Mayfield or Tannehill aren’t taking us anywhere but mid-ville.

People in favor of MHJ or a tackle in round one need to say where they think we will get a top QB because they sure as hell don’t grow on trees and finding a competent guy outside the first round is damn near impossible. It’s mostly damn near impossible outside the top 5-10 picks so let’s not fuck it up and make sure we get a great QB!

What round did Rosen, Darnold, Pickett, Zach Wilson, Fields, Lance, Love, Daniel Jones, Baker, Trubisky, Wentz, Paxton Lynch, Winston, Mariota, Bortles, Manziel, Bridgewater and EJ Manuel all go?

Yes you are more likely to find a franchise QB in the 1st. You are also far more likely to find a bust. Especially when they would be coming into an offensive so devoid of talent as ours. Having the 31st ranked WRs and the 32nd ranked pass blocking OL is not a recipe for success with a young QB.

It is not “QB or bust” this year. We need to rebuild and add talent across the board on offense, you can’t do it in one offseason. There is merit to taking MHJ, there is merit to trading down to take Fashanu and picking up a 2nd round QB.

If you’re actually suggesting we waste our 3rd overall pick on Penix, Bo, McCarthy or Ewers you need to be banned from the war room on draft day

The thing is that it’s highly unlikely that the qb will be successful with the system we have. It’s obvious Mac sucks, but so does the offense in general. MHJ could give whoever at qb a legitimate weapon. Then we could get a qb in the second round or the next year. I would say it’s much easier for a receiver to hit the ground running after a slow start than a qb

Those who don’t remember history are doomed to repeat it. They said the same shit about 2021. 8 QBs were taken in the top 3 rounds.

You’re right. The two QBs in last year’s Superbowl were both to 3 picks, right?

This is NOT categorically NOT the deepest Qb class in a decade. At all.

There are a bunch of talented guys yes but they all have incredible flaws and serious questions even before ending their NCAA careers and going into the combine.

And despite whatever hype you convince yourself of the truth is even in the best draft classes it’s still a position. That has a 30% hit rate in round one. 70% will be busts or back ups/journey QBs at best.

This is the deepest qb class since… 2021 when all 5 of the qb’s taken in the first round (including the generational talent) are trending towards being busts.

That’s not to say that we shouldn’t take a qb if the values there, but you shouldn’t be dead set on taking qb regardless of if it’s a reach since there’s no “sure thing” when it comes to qbs.

I will assume you aren’t really paying attention to this draft. No one thought 2021 was a historically great draft heading into it. It was Lawrence and a few guys with a lot of questions.

If Mac came out this year he would probably be considered at best the 5th or 6th best QB in this draft.
