Trent and Mike are both FAs next year. Also from the sounds if it, Mike doesn’t like playing tackle and prefers gaurd.

This is such a dumb argument.
For Parker, 500 yards and 2 TDs of his 2020 season were from when Fitzpatrick was the qb. In 2021, Parker was on pace for 800 yards and 3 TDs. In 2022 with the pats, he was on Pace for 700 yards and 4 TDs. Not really that much of a difference considering he had waddle to take a lot of the attention away his last year with the dolphins. Jonnu Smith had one good year before the pats, and the Patriots tried using him completely different from how he was used on the Titans and currently on the Falcons. The pats used him as an inline TE running mostly traditional TE routes, whereas the Titans and Falcons use him in the slot and as a gadget type player, so surely that can’t have anything to do with it.
Jakobi was better with Jimmy G and AOC.
Oh you mean Jacoby Meyers is more productive when he’s lining up next to a top 3 WR? No shit…
Hunter Henry had the best year of his career with the Pats, does that mean Mac’s better than Justin Herbert? Bourne had by far the best year of his career here too, does that mean that Mac’s better than Jimmy G now?
The problem is all the players you listed were drafted 10+ years ago. Over the last 10 years, they haven’t been able to draft offensive players to save their lives. BB will always be the GOAT coach in my mind, but when you stop succeeding and let things get as dysfunctional as they are this year, something needs to change.
This would imply that Mac’s the only reason that this team is awful, but he’s not. Don’t get me wrong Mac’s a problem, but he’s not the one who thought it’d be a good idea to let Patricia and Judge run the offense. He’s not the one that’s neglected the offense over the last 5-7 years, and whiffed on all the picks in the rare instances where we did invest in offense. Mac’s not the reason why our players have had poor fundamentals and discipline the last two years.
BB is the greatest coach of all time, and I will always be grateful for what he’s done for the Patriots the last 25 years. But ignoring his part in how this team is where it is today is just pure delusion.
Yep, I think there’s a word that describes the situation perfectly: dysfunctional.
You can make excuses for him if you want, but it doesn’t get much worse than throwing into quadruple coverage while you’re facing no pressure and there are two options on the outside that were only facing single coverage… Zappe’s decision there was a 0 probability pass. The best possible outcome that you could have hoped for was an incompletion or penalty, it made 0 sense throw that pass.
Say what you want about Mac, but all signs point towards Zappe being a worse qb than him. There have been dozens of reports to show that the Patriots have desperately been trying to replace Zappe as backup qb since the start of training camp, and the times we’ve seen Zappe play this year he’s looked awful. For reference, his stats this year are 10/25 for 100 yards 0 TDs and 1 Int. Good for a passer rating of 36.
On the flipside of that, if the coaches think that Mac’s biggest problem right now is a confidence issue, letting him “earn his spot” during the bye week and giving him the chance to beat up on a bad Giants team could be what he needs to turn it around. If he comes out and tanks again? You’re exactly where you the week before and you bench him for good.
Yeah, as much as I’d love to have an opportunity to draft one of the top QBs or MHJ, I can’t bring myself to actively root against the pats.
The Patriots didn’t trade for Matt Corral, they signed him off of waivers after the Panthers cut him.
This is the deepest qb class since… 2021 when all 5 of the qb’s taken in the first round (including the generational talent) are trending towards being busts.
That’s not to say that we shouldn’t take a qb if the values there, but you shouldn’t be dead set on taking qb regardless of if it’s a reach since there’s no “sure thing” when it comes to qbs.
At least there’s the tiniest amount of chance of a reception.
I’m sorry, you must not have seen Zappe’s interception. There was virtually no chance that a Patriots player was going to catch that ball.
Arguing who’s was worse is such a useless argument. Mac sucks. Zappe also sucks. It’s not mutually exclusive.
Do you realize they had no timeouts, 40ish seconds left, and a bunch of guys bit on the fake?
Yes, exactly. It was 1st down and still a fair amount of time left. There was absolutely no need to force a throw into quadruple coverage at that point. I have no idea why you’re making shit up about the coaches telling him to make that throw no matter what in order to defend what was objectively a terrible decision.
Isn’t it a penalty to hit a qb below the knees in the pocket?
Is it me, or do a lot of these reports reek of a lack of accountability from the coaching staff and front office? Mac’s been a disappointment this year and had an awful 2 game stretch, but there are plenty of other reasons why this team is 2-7 right now thatbare directly related to decisions that were made by the coaching staff and front office.
The Panthers make us look good, I really don’t think they’re gonna get another win this year.
How do you not include Malik Nabers? He’s the second best prospect imo behind MHJ. Unless we get a top 3 pick, it’s way more realistic to target him in the first round vs MHJ.
Personally, other than having Adams and Meyers, I don’t think I’ve ever been jealous of Raiders fans.
The OL is better now than they were compared to the first 8 weeks of the season, but I think it’s pretty obvious that getting killed for nearly 2 months has destroyed Mac’s confidence in himself and the team around him. Just look at his tape from the first 3 weeks compared to now. It’s like watching a completely different QB.
