Is this who he is? If Trae is as mediocre as he has been this season and last (you can argue he has just been bad this season) what is our move? Try and trade him while he still has some semblance of value? I’m sure we could get a top 5 pick.

We have become incredibly spoiled having Trae at PG.

24/9 is a LONG freaking way from mediocre or bad. It’s not up to Traes standards but unless he’s the only PG you’ve seen on the Hawks there’s no way anyone could say he’s mediocre or bad. I’ve been a Hawks fan since 86 and there’s been nobody even close at PG to how good Trae is as a passer or scorer. Not even close.

He’s going through a shooting slump so far this year but this isn’t his first time having these problems early in the year. He will get it together at some point.

Thing is … we been so spoiled from Trae being great from like day one , people honestly forget he’s not even in his prime yet … he’s still a kid who got a long way to go to be the best version of himself , the slump is definitely annoying but I’m not worried

Dudes averaging 23 and 11. I’d cut my left nut off for a player like that on the Hawks growing up.

Yall really out expecting way to much. The dude is amazing. His shooting will even out and his ppg will go up, assists probably go down a little, but at the end of the year you’ll have a PG averaging 27 and 10 and be pissed about it for some fucking reason.

    Like wtf

Tbh I don’t even see his assists going down, but the problem is nobody knows if this is just a really bad cold slump and he’s the same guy he was from 2020-2022 or not. Cause if he is he’ll turn it around soon and do what you said. It’s normal for guys to have down years but they usually come out great the next year. Trae has been struggling for a season and 12 games that’s not really normal for a star. You can’t blame people for being concerned about his scoring the guy is shooting 35% from the field and 27% from 3.

I’m the biggest Trae fan in this sub but the truth is if he was playing up to his standards, we wouldn’t be 6-6 we’d be 8-4 at the very least, possibly 10-2 with the way he was able to take over games. We’ve seen what he’s capable of and it’s hard to watch right now. But I think he’ll turn it around

This is why I stop coming to this sub. A bunch of casuals crying. Half of you probably started watching basketball in 2018 and it’s shows. Chill out and enjoy the show. Go outside. Smile. Soon we will miss this era like some of us miss the Jeff Teacher, Josh Smith, and Joe Johnson. Who remembers Ivan Johnson Mr fuck the backboard lol. Everything balances out…except this sub. Atlanta is all fair weather.

Trae should lean into passing more. Team should surround him with big versatile wings to force him to do so. If he needs to be relied on to score you’re always going to have to live with these slumps. The less of a need for him to score the better

People are flipping about your moving him, but he’s really not that movable right now. He’s not getting what the hawks would want back. So he’s here to say. As far as is this who he is? Probably. His shooting his whole career has been average except for two years. And if this team wants to get past being a play in team and to a consistent 4-6 seed and at least trying to get to the second round, then his shooting needs to get better. Quin’s system is best when your lead guard can shoot the 3 well. Spider was thriving and the offense was humming when he had this same system. And as far as Trae goes, he’s a max player. This shooting stuff is the only real thing he can improve right now. He’s never going to be this plus defender. That’s fine. He’s already one of the best play makers and FT shooters in the league. So that leaves his FG and three point shooting. His off ball is going to be whatever, so this leaves his shooting. If people really dive into his numbers, they would see it’s been a bit of a problem his whole career and a big problem his rookie, last year, and this year. Some fans still hold max players to a standard.

2nd greatest in my lifetime as he’ll never pass Nique unless he wins a chip but still Trae is amazing.

Judging by the foolishness of the anti-Trae posts, I’m going to assume that crowd wasn’t old enough to watch Nique.

This is likely true. Such a shame that most Hawks fans now aren’t old enough to know how absolutely dominant he was. Power and finesse rolled into one. He probably hogged the ball a little too much but my God he was a pleasure to watch. I was so spoiled having him and Dan Marino growing up as my 2 favorite athletes.
