2018: Struck out on Knox but got Mitch. We also know have Brunson and Ragu from the draft

2020: IQ is a Top 8 player in the draft so therefore we got our value, just elsewhere

Even tho we’re in a good place rn let’s not try to sugarcoat how big those flops/misses were. Multiple All Star caliber players could have been had. Mikal Bridges or Shai over Knox, Haliburton over Obi. Big misses that we’re lucky to still not be hurting from thanks to good picks in the later rounds

The draft is a crap shoot and the odds of nailing the picks in the late lottery are low. Between Frank and Knox we went 0/2, but so did others. Only 1 team got SGA, 1 team got Mikal, 1 team got Donovan Mitchell. Picking 8-20 is tough you have like a 25% chance to draft a stud and we whiffed hard on both.

We made up for it with Mitch, Grimes and IQ. I’d say Knicks last 6-8 years of drafting have been average - slightly above average. Oh well.

We need to just stop re-litigating old drafts. Blah blah blah Haliburton I just don’t care anymore. Pretty weird how everyone repeats the few that actually worked out but forget all the draft prospects everyone here completely whiffed on. A lot of people wanted to trade the house to get Ivey and he can barely get playing time on a TERRIBLE Detroit team. Shit, Knox is getting more minutes than him . . .

If we had hit on our early first rounders, we’d have a chance to be a serious championship contender. We’ve done well on our late firsts and second rounders, but it’s not the same level of impact.
