Not just players but also coaching staff.

It feels like LPL is much better competition wise at the top level only to find Korea just comes backs and wins it.

As much as I like T1 and am happy they won I knew this sub would become insufferable after they won…funny how a T1 worlds win somehow erases like a half decade of strong-to-dominant LPL international performance.

LPL was only dominant in 2018-2020. After that both lpl and lck are very close to each other.

Don’t forget 2021 MSI 2021 Worlds 2022 MSI all were 5 game series. Lpl teams was better in those game 5. But after that in world’s 2022 lck showed what is called domination.

Then in MSI 2023 lpl showed domination

And in world’s 2023 lpl and lck were very close to each other. T1 was just the best team. Just because lpl had 3 teams in semi doesn’t prove that they were better. Wbg had one of the most luckiest Run(except for semis when they peaked in performance).

Geng will beat wbg and could have been semi finals and it could have been 2 teams for LCK and lpl in semi

I agree, I think I was not entirely clear when I said “strong to dominant.” I think what I meant was that over the last several years they have put up dominant performances at SOME events, meanwhile at others have just put up strong performances and were ultimately topped by LCK those events.

I don’t mean to say that LPL outperformed LCK over the last 6 years, because I don’t believe that, but rather that it has been a pretty even push and pull between the 2 regions

Koreans are mechanically better. Not because of some innate voodoo, but because they don’t do things in halves when it comes to LoL. Come and play here and you’ll soon realise that everyone - from Iron to Challenger - is limit-testing. I’d say most (~60%) games start with just a level-one 5v5 brawl in the river. And the following lane-phase is bloody as hell. Don’t expect low elo junglers not to invade you. They will be in your grill. Then, as you climb, the aggression goes up, as does the CS. Consistent with other regions, at low ranks, CS is atrocious. Anyway, as a result, the cream of the crop have god-tier mechanics. And then give them a bit of coaching and whatnot, boom, new pros.

EDIT: Oh, and infrastructure. Korea has very toxic sports culture, but e-sports is different because pro gamers don’t have alumni and all that crap. If you watch team vods, you’ll find coaches and players are very respectful towards one another.

I feel like people don’t know the context of why Korea LoL overall scenario came to be what it is.
    It’s actually related to history.

It’s because of the 98 Korean Crisis, which as a result resulted in the PC Bang Explosion and Gaming Culture.
That is because due to polverty people would go for cheap entertainment.

So genres like RTS and MMO would explode between 90’s and 2000’s.
We had Nexon on the MMO upfront and Blizzard on the RTS upfront.
Star Craft became famous due to that.

What happened with League is that most of the first korean players that started playing League are residual players from RTS genres, which created a environment where the overall macro and micro was way higher than the avg in other regions.
This allowed for all players to developed their skills much better than other regions, and players who came later into the korean sever and weren’t from the 1998~2010 Generation basically were in contact with that environment and managed to develop a better skill.

That’s why players like Faker and Deft exist in first place

Faker didn’t start playing league like a Silver/Bronze player.
He was a high elo Start Craft Player who took interest in League.

His macro was way above the avg player in a global scale.

That is also why Faker looks like a psychopath with how much he changes his screens between players, that is macro from SC.
