Shoutout to Terence Steele. Looked like his old self yesterday and seems to be turning it around. Hopefully it really was just a health/recovery issue earlier this year
Love blowing out teams that were supposed to
Good week of football so far:
The 5 seed officially runs through us until further notice thanks to the Vikings losing. We can’t afford ties in W-L with anyone due to our conference record unfortunately. Keeping the 5 seed means we probably play the NFC South again which will be Tampa or New Orleans… both teams with suspect QBs, of course ANYTHING can happen but I like our chances going against those two. Philly starts the tough stretch of their schedule but so do we. If Philly drops some, we gotta be ready to take the division meaning we can’t drop any form here on out.
Good game:
We came out and passed against a top 10 pass D and the run game finally had some life
A win is a win and I shouldn’t complain but I really hoped we would find a way to get Lamb more yards. We gotta be able to feed him even against good pass defenses.
Schoonmaker sighting!
Mazi smith had some good plays where he got a pressure and also a couple more where he completely collapsed the interior of the pocket on a double team
Terrance Steele is getting better
I’m willing to donate a couple of bucks to GoFundMe to make sure we never run the wildcat offense ever again. What was that crap???
I forgot what it feels like to win a close game
It’s really worth reviewing the offensive tape before and after the San Francisco game. They aren’t necessarily running a different scheme. We have to remember that they were installing a new offense and that sometimes takes time.
It’s become abundant that perhaps some of the efficiency we credited Kellen Moore with may have been in part the brainchild of Dak Prescott. The team let him call plays the final week of the preseason for a reason and all offseason it was discussed how Dak was playing a part in molding the offense.
McCarthy talked about “running the damn ball” and we saw the results of that the first few weeks. His approach maybe may have made sense if Diggs had stayed healthy and this defense was unquestionably No. 1
Then the Cardinals and SF games happened and it was clear that while our defense is disruptive, the offense is going to have to return to being top 10 - 5 for this team to compete. There were reports of McCarthy keeping coaches back extra after the game and I am sure over the bye they added even more wrinkles to this offensive borrowing what’s been working across the league.
It seems to me that this team had figured out that it’s NOT going to run the ball consistently but to pass the ball at an elite level they had to turn the keys over to Dak Prescott and do more to scheme guys open. Pre-snap motions are up. CeeDee is being moved all over the place. Involving other weapons teams must account for as well in creative ways and also the gameplan week to week observably is working. Even the Eagles loss could have easily been a win if executed better.
McCarthy deserves credit but there should be some credit given to Dak Prescott for molding this offense. Also there should be legitimate questions about Kellen Moore given what’s played out in Los Angeles. How involved was Dak all along in molding this “Kellen Moore” offense of years ago? The #s are clear when he is back under center this is a top 5 offense no matter what. Now that Kellen Moore is gone.
That hasn’t changed.
I want them to take care of Wash and Seattle and go into a mini bye before Phillhy
I’ll be looking forward to Sounds From The Sideline this week and, of course, Scooter
23 point road win. In the game thread at points you’d have thought Cowboys were losing.
Anyway, good win, took care of business against a bad team. Now do the same vs Washington on Thanksgiving & that would be a nice 3 game win stream with 10 days off.
Jourdan Lewis needs to get benched. Dude continues to get cooked week in and week out. I get it, slot CB is one of the tougher positions and he’d be CB4 if Diggs was still healthy. I get it. However, that does not excuse mediocre play. Not once against the Panthers did he win vs match-up. Let some of the younger guys get some reps at slot.
Eagles coach is such a loser
I don’t care what we have to do or how we do it. This team better beat the dog piss out of the Eagles in a few weeks and then when we see them in the playoffs I want fucking helmets rolling til we bounce them the fuck out. I hate this year’s eagles team. I don’t care what the record is. They’re good but they’re not this good. Luckiest bounces and ref balls on top of teams just shitting the bed has helped them in all their wins…
WE HAVE TO WIN EVERY GAME WE PLAY FROM HERE TO THE END AND EVEN THAT MIGHT NOT BE ENOUGH.
