  • It’s really worth reviewing the offensive tape before and after the San Francisco game. They aren’t necessarily running a different scheme. We have to remember that they were installing a new offense and that sometimes takes time.

It’s become abundant that perhaps some of the efficiency we credited Kellen Moore with may have been in part the brainchild of Dak Prescott. The team let him call plays the final week of the preseason for a reason and all offseason it was discussed how Dak was playing a part in molding the offense.

McCarthy talked about “running the damn ball” and we saw the results of that the first few weeks. His approach maybe may have made sense if Diggs had stayed healthy and this defense was unquestionably No. 1

Then the Cardinals and SF games happened and it was clear that while our defense is disruptive, the offense is going to have to return to being top 10 - 5 for this team to compete. There were reports of McCarthy keeping coaches back extra after the game and I am sure over the bye they added even more wrinkles to this offensive borrowing what’s been working across the league.

It seems to me that this team had figured out that it’s NOT going to run the ball consistently but to pass the ball at an elite level they had to turn the keys over to Dak Prescott and do more to scheme guys open. Pre-snap motions are up. CeeDee is being moved all over the place. Involving other weapons teams must account for as well in creative ways and also the gameplan week to week observably is working. Even the Eagles loss could have easily been a win if executed better.

McCarthy deserves credit but there should be some credit given to Dak Prescott for molding this offense. Also there should be legitimate questions about Kellen Moore given what’s played out in Los Angeles. How involved was Dak all along in molding this “Kellen Moore” offense of years ago? The #s are clear when he is back under center this is a top 5 offense no matter what. Now that Kellen Moore is gone.

    That hasn’t changed.

  • Give credit where credit is due. Since the San Francisco game, Dak has perhaps had the strongest run of QB play of his career and perhaps anything we’ve seen since the 90s.

    Coming up Dallas plays.

    • Carolina
    • Washington
    • Seattle

If Dak keeps playing like this, he will be firmly an MVP candidate. This is not only a credit to Dak stepping up but McCarthy and his willingness to abandon what wasn’t going to work. The run heavy, conservative mindset when this team believed it had the best defense in the NFL changed very quickly to the aggressive, vertical offense we knew this roster was capable of. That’s good coaching.

Not many QBs in the league are capable of playing like Dak has the past four weeks. Say what you want about the playoff success but Dak is firmly a top 10 QB in this league.

Coming up we will learn a lot about this team when we play.

    • Philly
    • Buffalo
    • Miami
    • Detriot

If we can come out of that stretch at least .500 this is a very dangerous wildcard team. Playoff caliber football starts earlier than usual on our schedule so we should all hope we use the slate of teams ahead of us to build on successes and roll into Philly with a win streak.
