Not talked about a lot, but I believe he is making around 1m this year. Due to his draft position, he was making anywhere from 600k (!) to 800k. Websites have him at 0.5% of the salary cap.
Websites list his “true” theoretical value at around 22m.
It’s a long time from now (a lot of things can happen). When St. Brown becomes a free agent in 2025, are the Detroit Lions the type of team where they can keep all these pieces when our budget superstars expire?
EDIT: The dude is just a special player.
A guy like ASB is part of the soul of this team. Same with Sewell and Hutch. I feel Branch may be the same. Not thrilled about big bucks for TEs, but LaPorta may be that guy.
Other pieces may come and go. But those three guys are the type of dudes you hold on to and build around.
St Brown, Sewell & Hutch to me are no brainer pillars that you just throw the bag at.
Sun God has put up record breaking stats throughout the beginning of his career & has an elite mentality where you don’t even have to think about any concern of his work ethic falling off after he gets paid. I personally never want to see him in another teams jersey.
When you have a guy like Brad that drafts well, you can refresh the team year in & year out with guys that can compete & once in a while you will hit on another diamond (Branch is trending in this direction as is Laporta). Our books will be pretty much clean once the first batch these dudes need to get paid. We can afford to pay them, & should pay them.
St Brown is 1000% getting extended and it’s going to be north of 20m a year and he deserves every penny
We’re gonna have to back up the Brinks truck and pay the man.
