The return of the Black-n-Blue Division.
The return of the Black-n-Blue Division.
Our marquee free agent to help out our defense has been out injured since week 2.
…and the free agent we signed with the intention of manning the #2 CB slot played only a few snaps all season before injuring his other ACL.
Will the Pistons finish December with more wins than the Lions have losses? (Lifted from the Valenti show.)
Sad time for the Pistons (though they have won 3 championships in my adult lifetime to the Lions 1 playoff win).
Can we make the lion fish/seed a Lions sub flair?
Maybe we could do a coaching trade with the Jets. They could have Aaron Glen for head coach and we could take Saleh for defensive coordinator. Win win and we’d get two 3rd round picks. Time to start talking up Aaron Glen.
This season is beginning to remind me of 2013. We were 6-3 at one point with the high point being the comeback win over Dallas (with the famous Stafford fake spike touchdown). Then they finished the season 1-6 to finish 7-9. It was extremely frustrating as a fan and got Jim Schwartz fired. Green Bay won the division with a record of 8-7-1. The division was in our hands. All they had to do was win two more games to finish 9-7.
From the perspective of winning the division, their backs are nearing the wall. I think they’ll bounce back against the Saints; it’s hard to keep our offense down forever.
Only one of the fumbles actually cost us anything - the first one that was returned for a TD where players thought it was an incomplete pass.
The second fumble resulted in Green Bay turning it over on downs; the Lions basically lost 9 yards of field possession as a result.
The third fumble was on a blown up 4th down play; it wouldn’t have mattered if the ball had been fumbled or not.
That first fumble was bad, but it wasn’t what ended up deciding the game. Rather it was the failed fake punt, other failures to convert on 4th down, and just a poor performance from the offense today, especially the offensive line’s pass protection.
It was those failed 4th downs and the fake punt that really killed us.
You wouldn’t know it from how the game felt, but our offense put up 464 yards. Goff threw for 324 and our running game produced 140 yards.
Green Bay had 359 yards of offense. We outgained them by over 100 yards.
He also threw for 330 yards today
Yeah, you wouldn’t know it from how the game felt, but our offense actually put up 464 yards today. Goff threw for 324 with no interceptions (but did have the fumbles which is partially on the offensive line) and our running game produced 140 yards.
Green Bay had 359 yards of offense. We outgained them by over 100 yards.
I guess it didn’t feel like a 464 yard day because of all the failed 4th down conversions.
Let’s suppose that Goff rebounds and plays decently for the rest of the season and we could trade Goff for a 1st round pick in this year’s draft. Would we do it?
If Hendon is better than Goff or not far from him, that’s great. If Hendon doesn’t work out then we’ve built a team with a missing QB piece and will have to figure out a way to fill it.
The team is moving in the right direction. Need one or two more offseasons of talent acquisition.
I agree that the defense could have played better, but I can’t pin all or most of the blame on them for this one.
In terms of points allowed, it’s hard to blame our defense for giving up more than 19 points. 7 points were from the fumble return touchdown and one of the touchdowns came off of the failed fake punt. Since the Packers pretty much started in field goal territory, as I see it 3 of those 7 points are not on the defense.
Generally, I tend to think that with how our team is built, if the defense gives up 20 points or under we should win. I’m pinning the blame for this one on the offense and fake punt decision.
The defense did not give up 23 points in the first half, only 16. 7 of those points were on a fumble-return touchdown where the defense wasn’t even on the field.
Miami dropped 70 on the Broncos earlier this season. Hypothetically if they were on our schedule for this year, could they drop 70 on us?
We need some sort of offensive game plan or answer for when we’re getting heavy pressure; something that gets the ball out within 2 seconds. Other teams have done that against strong Lions pass rushes in the past, why can’t we do it?
I don’t have Amazon Prime. But as someone wrote below, “I lived through it.” I’m guessing that all of the juicy bits will be posted in this sub anyway. The biggest revelation has been the part about Joe Montana.
I wonder if Colby Sorsdahl should be added to that list. It looks like he’ll be worthy of it eventually.
The most wins either the Packers or Vikings can get are 11. So we need 3 more wins to gives us 12 to seal the division. We need to take care of business and beat the Bears and Broncos. It sure would be nice to start our series with the Vikings at 11-3 needing only 1 win to clinch.
