Haunting guise is back, I won
So no ganking top lane or mid, but go ahead and gank bot
So they’re removing pings because they want communication to be clearer, with the game having a more “MMORPG feel.” Well, the map feels that way, anyway.
But then. The game doesn’t have the same pace as MMORPGs, so typing to give out all your thoughts, or to explain yourself, isn’t really that good. Also, surely MMORPG players use voice comms, or even have their own abbreviations/codes for quick communication in hectic boss fights or clan wars.
Seeing the herald, one thing comes to my mind.
Idk feel like the completly missed the mark with the mid changes. Oh we want mages to feel a bit safer from jg ganks, nvm we put in highway straight to your tower so you can get slam dunked by jaravan with 0 risk.
Something I noticed: The herald slamming tower still made the plate sound effect even though it spawns at 14 minutes.
What I gather from this:
dont EVER fight sion in a minion wave
on-hit / enchanter combo with tankier items will be busted
bruisers still have by far the best items
does voidstaff still exist?
usually opposed to change and im only 1 minute in, but this looks pretty cool. the emphasis on safety and deception in terms of vision gives me the feeling that wall hopping or terrain ignoring champions are going to see a huge increase in strength and play rate. wards also just recieved the biggest buff they’ll probably ever get. now im wondering what the new top laner’s vision mechanic will be considering season 14’s theme.
calling it now, that ‘permanent and exponential’ grub buff is going to be removed within a month. ridiculously powerful
i wish they just showed direct side by side map comparisons. it’s so much easier to visualize than telling me that the bush is 2.57 pixels further
Idc what the doomers say, I’m hyped for these
My hot take:
Jungle was strong because they got gold gain to make up for a lack of experience, which lead to being a mid-game powerhouse if you farmed well(spam ganking was a low ELO thing and overall worse outside of a few champs that were so overtuned that they broke the game with their snowballing(Kindred at times)) -> Nerf both experience and gold gain, meaning they have no choice but to farm efficiently in order to be consistent -> Nerf pings so leading for wins is harder(There are stats showing that the Jungler who pings more tends to win more) -> Nerf options for playmaking.I like that we’re getting nerfed cooldowns because it was over the top and didn’t matter if anyone misplayed because they had low cooldowns, I like that we’re going back a bit to longer games, but one thing that Riot (and most players?) don’t realise is that longer games on its own already takes agency away from Junglers and puts it onto the laners and that no one likes losing games because one person got caught out stupidly in the late game. In my experience, laners actually got dumber in regards to macro play(objective control, lane assignments, etc) as well as CSing because of shorter games and all the CDR in the game, so I imagine next year is going to be PAINFUL for Junglers as laners are going to actually have to play the map and CS properly in order to win. Then you can’t really ping players to direct them to where they need to be because of the max 3-4 pings of a certain type (It already annoys me that I can’t ping what I think the enemy Jungler’s path is)
All of these changes are like quad big nerfs to the role. I hope they at least return some experience and/or gold to the role. It feels like we are going back to season 5 League but with a nerfed Jungle. Perhaps supportive Jungle meta will come back with the odd cheese Kayn hanging about.
Top is very strong right now even though they all complain about it. Tower gold changes gave it a small buff and now these map changes give it another buff, bit weird?
On a side note, all those players who tilt to the point of giving up and griefing by afk farming a lane, getting caught out, not responding to the map/neutral objectives and etc are going to ruin even more games next year. I hope Riot start punishing them…
For selfish reasons I really hate the Void Grubs. Losing/fighting against permanent buffs tilt me out of my mind, especially if I feel our team isn’t contesting ones that seem free. But I guess given how early they come and only for turret damange it won’t be a game-ending buff.
Is it just me or does this seem like A LOT of changes for one season? I kept thinking the video would end and the changes just keep going and going.
A lot of people hate Riot for this but I’m really glad they’re willing to constantly update and transform the game. Super excited for preseason
