I e met a good amount of people who don’t like hearing it after a massive stomp. Cause like a good chunk of the time it’s the one who popped off the hardest who rushes to say it.

You’re right - and I can’t imagine why someone would think a game is good if they completely and utterly steamrolled you.

It’s not fun for either side and it’s a flaw or matchmaking. It wasn’t a “good game”.

Eh, I kind of reflexively say it at this point after any game, win or lose.

i always type “ggs! ♡” after a game, win or lose. it’s mostly just a “hey, thanks for playing, we all tried!” type of thing for me.

I’m older. 40+. I grew up where saying “good game (gg) regardless of win/lose or how bady was the respectful thing to do. That’s still how I view it. There will always be snarky jerks that do it sarcastically or whatever, but I’d say give us the benefit of the doubt that we’re just being respectful.

If its a REALLY BAD 1 sided game & I have enough time to type (console) I’ll type “been there, gg)

I really only ever say GG in match chat when it’s genuinely a good game. Like everyone has a good back and forth and it could’ve been anyone’s game. Now if we absolutely mop the floor with the enemy team, I’ll type GJ in team chat to tell my team they did a good job without rubbing it in the other team’s face.

For me, I use GG as a way of saying thank you to everyone for playing in general. I can only speak for myself, but I get on the game for my mental health. It gives me something to focus on outside of my own thoughts and life issues. I’m grateful for the people who choose to play the game because they’re all helping me in a way they’re unaware of. I say GR after every round and GG after every match. I think it’s just a nice way of saying thanks for hanging out with me. If I get wiped by a team, I’ll usually give them credit because it can be pure chaos sometimes. I respect the sweats. I grind really hard when I’m having a bad day and I don’t want to rage at someone who may be having just as rough of a day as I am. Most of us get on the game either to have fun or blow off steam. Brush it off. I’m sure they don’t mean it in a petty way at all, it’s just a standard communication amongst gamers that we all understand.

No I completely agree, and I find it as irritating as “EZ”.

I find when they say “free” or “zzz” to be much more insulting

I never thought of it this way and now I’m thinking of all the intentionally negative sarcasm I dodged as a new player. Ignorance is bliss I guess lol

Ive had games where my teammate was literally falling off the map on purpose and someone on the other team says gg after, lol

I say it as a handshake after the game.
