Hi hi! I’m an Orlando Magic fan, obviously very happy with our start to the season. Our hot start has mostly come from elite defence tho.

To improve our offence, I’ve seen Simons mentioned as a name that would be a great fit, and I feel the same way, I would love to have him. What I’m wondering is, do you guys consider him to be a substantial part of your future? Would you be willing/happy to trade him? If so, how much do you think it would take, would we have to throw quite a substantial offer at your FO?

I think he’s the guy Orlando should go for too, would fit the need and the time line. Future draft capital seems to be what we’re after at the moment. I still think the front office is undecided if he’s part of the way forward or not.

If/when, Ant going home would be the obvious best fit. He would solve a long term 3pt shooting need for ORL, and if one of your “home grown” guys goes out, going home always takes some of the sting out of it. :)

Scoot’s not “there” yet, and POR needs Ant’s offense even more than ORL at this point. So my assumption is that Ant is not “available” now / this year, but that all depends on how quickly so many of the younguns “get there”.

If/when, then - WCJ would fill a long term need for POR, as the centerpiece player/position/talent. If Timelord can get healthy, great. If/when POR has “too many” 4/5 players that it doesn’t have minutes for everyone, then you figure that out. POR would also need/want one (two?) of the guards/ball handlers, because Scoot and Brogdon (Mookie Dew!) would be the only other ball handlers on the roster.

Personally I think the only thing keeping him from becoming an elite scorer at the moment is how many fouls he draws. Elite scorers find a way to go to the line when their shot isn’t falling, but Simons doesn’t seem to drive to the rim as much as I’d like. I think that’s obviously correctable, and if he fixed that, in a vacuum I think he’d be worth multiple Magic first round picks (y’all are on an upwards trajectory so I’m assuming these would be mid to late picks outside the lottery).

That all being said, I’d hope we can keep him at the 2 and start Sharpe at the 3 and just play some small ball.

Gonna be another couple years until sharpe is ready to be a SF on a good team. I think he can get there though. He’s just such a perfect SG that it’s hard not to play him there for the sake of getting the absolute most out of the lineup

Some of the fan base honestly undervalues him because we’ve had him for so long. Dudes only 23 and has improved every season. If the blazers trade him, and Scoot doesn’t pan out it’ll look horrible for them.

I would personally drive him to Orlando for Franz Wagner

We can’t keep Shaedon, Ant and Scoot long term, so I feel that we would be open to trading Ant at the right price. Right now, Scoot is not NBA ready so Ant is more necessary at the moment, but this is a temporary situation.

OP, you do know that Ant’s defense has been traffic-cone level prior to this season, right? He did better this year, showing a little grit, but you should only get him if you can tolerate an all-offense but willing passer PG.

Simons would be great next to Jalen Suggs or Markelle Fultz and could be Orlando’s first to third option on any given night. He just needs to be next to a larger, defensive guard who will make up for his defensive deficiencies. And that’s not to say that Simons hasn’t put in way more effort on defense this season. He’s committed on that end.

I think that Ant Simons is better than Tyler Herro but likely not quite as good as Tyrese Maxey.

It would take a lot. He is a future All-Star guard. It would require something like Isaac, Anthony Black, and then 3+ FRPs. Or if you dont wanna give up a boat load of picks, it would have to be Franz Wagner and Isaac. Ant is that good.

I think most Blazer fans want Simons + other promising young players + a boat load of draft capital to be used on an All Star once we are ready to compete. We aren’t there yet. If things work out as intended I don’t think we move Simons for depth in other spots.

I think Orlando should have went after Simons for a while now. I think the draft was a good chance to make something happen once it was clear we were taking Scoot but there was still the idea of making it work with Dame.

I don’t think we are going to move Simons this year because I think we are going to see how good he can be as the official #1 option and he was really taking on a leadership role for us. Leading annual rookie traditions, coaching up Ayton in training camp, really giving maximum effort on both ends to start the year.

Maybe if Scoot breaks out soon and proves that he has star potential and we are blown away with an offer to send Simons home. I think it would cost a pretty penny and would probably take a Dejounte Murray type of trade based on how I think Simons performs this year.

Magic FO would try and flip one of your guards for him and that doesn’t work for us. Make the wings/bigs available and we can talk
