I know I’m going to be called a shill for this, but anyway:

Earlier today some dude posted a review by wheelsboy for the Avatr 12 sedan. It was immediately downvoted to shit. And it wasn’t a bad review! It was in depth, it was fun, the guy did an overview of the product and showed us how it drove. It wasn’t some low quality thing!

If this was just a random thing, then whatever; odd stuff sometimes from time to time. But this is a reoccuring issue when it comes to Chinese (and even some Euro!) brands and models, or news, or manufacturers

Look, I get it; you don’t like China. I’m not super keen on every aspect of their society myself. But jesus; if you don’t like something, just look away. Stop trying to drown out EV news from the largest EV market in the whole damn world. If you want that, make your own subreddit that’s just about american EVs and remain blissfully unaware of what Stellantis or Geely or whoever the hell is doing. But don’t ruin it for the rest of us!

The UAW is very active on Reddit and there appears to be an anti-EV campaign going on.

Hyundai/Kia sales people are also common on Reddit and tend to be vocal.

EVs in the US are facing a wave of ignorance and legacy auto is taking advantage of it.

Chinese vehicles are a threat to the EU, the US, Canada, and Australia. I get that the Asians have it going for them, but I’m tired of seeing news from China. I don’t care about what the commies do.

I live in america and I agree with you.

Here everybody wants a gazillion mile range and 6 rows of seating and ability to tow their house behind it. Because they love driving, being in the car for hours on end, even days. They want a home on wheels…

But it’s not entirely their fault. There’s absolutely no public transport. Did you know that between the biggest cities in Texas there’s no public transportation to speak of? There is one train a day between Dallas (3rd largest city) and Austin (capital and 4rth largest).

Can you imagine 1 train a day between major cities in Europe?

The sub also likes to shit on anything that’s not a car.

Electric bicycles, motorcycles, boats, and aircraft are all subject to obtuse downvoting!

Look, they’re even downvoting me for talking about it! LOL

Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I’m being repressed!

I hope they’re successful in making ev’s. I don’t want any company to be the only company making electric cars. Otherwise that’s going against the success of electric cars. We need more options if we are going to take over gas cars. To want one company to make the only electric car is to be against the whole ev movement. Thats what is wrong with die hard fanboys. They’re an embarrassment. Variety is necessary if we’re going to take over oil.

Meanwhile, every single thread about NACS has some raving euro-sniper yelling, “In Europe we do things differently! I don’t care about NACS!” Good, get our of our threads.

I’ve helped a lot of people on various subreddits. Whenever I post something asking for help, I get 1-2 replies typically. Reddit is what it is. Just accept it.

Yeah I sometimes think i am in r/cars here.

We’re all owners or prospective owners, let’s support the minority, we are barely in double digits (except for Norway), so we should remain positive and educated.

I agree. There’s a lot of cool EV news from China. Leading battery tech, self driving tech, etc. Most of it not (yet) coming to the west.

But to be fair, I think Tesla posts are downvoted as well, especially since the Twitter downfall.
