I agree. There’s a lot of cool EV news from China. Leading battery tech, self driving tech, etc. Most of it not (yet) coming to the west.
But to be fair, I think Tesla posts are downvoted as well, especially since the Twitter downfall.

CATL is on track for 670 GWh annual capacity by 2025. Their latest 5C battery achieves 552 kW peak charging.
Meanwhile, CATL: in 2030, we’ll make enough structural batteries with over 500 Wh/kg density to power every new car, truck, boat and plane on the planet.
Writing this article without mentioning the EQXX (or the EQS, Ioniq 6, Model S, Lucid Air, hell even the NIO ET7, Xpeng P5 or Li Mega) … smh.
Nice for Audi that they have a weird aerodynamic prototype as well, but they mainly sell SUV EVs.
Here’s the top 10 for those interested: https://www.topspeed.com/most-aerodynamic-electric-cars
Nice, 50-75 miles covers most commutes!
Do you think there will be more cars with built-in solar roofs, like the Lightyear (bankrupt) or 2023 Prius PHEV (tiny panel)?
It’s 202 cm wide, which is only slightly inconvenient as you’ll encounter these signs on European highways.
Edit: I doubt it will be allowed in Europe because of pedestrian safety.
In China, the term new energy vehicle (NEV) is used to designate automobiles that are fully or predominantly powered by electric energy, which include plug-in electric vehicles — battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) — and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV).
The article acknowledges EV > ICE. But it also mentions that to improve the quality of life in cities like Oslo, there need to be fewer cars (and more bikes and better public transportation).
I think many people feel the same. I do. I love the Model S / 3, both look great imho and their range/efficiency is almost unmatched even after all these years. I preordered the 3.
Elon Musk had some weird remarks in the past, like “they should remove the centre isle in buses”, and his dislike for public transport. I shrugged them off - it made sense from a billionaire perspective I guess?
Then the pedo remarks… I won’t even go into the recent Twitter/X sh*tshow, but even before that there’s [a whole list].(https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/04/elon-musk-twitter-terrible-things-hes-said-and-done)
And I also think the Cybertruck is terrible.
Chinese prices should never be mentioned in dollars, but compared to the Model 3 price in China (259,900 yuan) this seems like a good deal.
Not sure how they compare quality-wise, but the 2024 Xpeng P5 starts at 156,900 yuan - slightly more expensive with a smaller battery.
This should be higher up. The ID Buzz California was recently postponed because of this weight constraint; the California presented last month is based on the Multivan.
In Europe, even if you obtain a special drivers licence due to it being heavier than 3500 kg, it’s hugely impractical due to its dimensions;
Length 5885 mm
Width 2027 mm
Height 1905 mm
It’s almost intentional.
Especially if Elon continues his current tweeting (X-ing?) behaviour.
