Considering the latest mock has us taking Caleb Williams at #3 overall via CBS’ latest update, I too would go:
- Caleb Williams (Round 1 pick #3) (QB)
- Patrick Paul (Round 2 pick #35) (OT)
- Luke Lachey (Round 3 pick #67) (TE)
Then in free agency
- Re sign Trent Brown, Onwenu and Kyle Dugger
- Move on from Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki at tight end; re-sign Pharaoh Brown at tight end
- Sign either Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Tee Higgins from the Cincinnati Bengals; preferably Mike Evans and by doing that and then pairing him up with Caleb Williams, it elevates Williams’ game at the QB position even as a rookie
Then if we have Christian Barmore back healthy along with Gonzo…Christian Gonzalez back in our fold healthy next season and Matt Judon also comes back next season healthy, then can the Patriots be a Wild Card team next season? I would say it is only possible if we follow through on not just these steps but we take the following players mocked to us as well.
Williams is going to be a monumental bust. No thanks.
Bleh…Give me MHJR at 3 or maybe Maye…(nothing against you but I don’t like Caleb)
I wouldn’t mind a good OT in the second round,
Id keep our TE’s not their fault Mac "Crap my pants when there is a rush"Jones is their current QB. If you insist, we could cut Gesicki, I think Henry is Ok…
Then we can spend a pick on a LB, Judon and Bentley are fine but we could use another
I like Mike Evans, not so much Tee Higgins although he is younger but MHJR and Evans and maybe Josh Dobbs or Cousins, that would be a upgrade (if we didn’t get Maye)
While Bellichick is here things will get worse
Only losers post mock drafts in November but whatever
If they take Caleb one of 3 things is going to happen.
-
His father pulls an Elway/E. Manning move and demands they trade him.
-
He gets battered behind the terrible O line and is more shell shocked than Mac halfway through his rookie year.
-
He gets battered behind the terrible O line and suffers a season ending injury (possibly career ending) halfway through his rookie year.
