I’ve been going back and forth with myself about Josh Giddey, and I know he’s somewhat unpopular at times for his fine defense, bad 3 point shooting and perceived slow start. But as I’ve thought about it more, I really like the intangibles he has! Great passer, obviously SLOB wizard and a good rebounder. His size at his position as well? Gold dust. I’m starting to think at this stage that there’s very few players (namely elite rebounders and stretch bigs, hey Lauri) who I’d trade him for. And most of these players are pretty great. I don’t like the whole “trade for Zach Lavine” “trade for Caruso” talk. I’m just not interested and they really don’t move the needle. All this to say, we need to respect Giddey for what he is now; a cracking role player, and a unique situational player!

I was neutral on a trade before this broke out, and am still neutral in a trade now. He’s just not good enough to be a current starter or get paid.

If the team wants to trade him that works. If they want to keep and develop him that’s fine. But he is a depth player (as his current level of play) and that’s all.

Exactly. Just because he’s not knocking down shots, doesn’t mean he’s a bust. He impacts the game in ways others can’t. Need someone to inbound the ball? Josh is there. Need someone to run point and get guys in position? Josh is there. Need someone to dribble penetrate to open up the perimeter for an open 3? Josh is there.

Not only that but he can take smaller guards to the rack and be successful

Yea he has some minor flaws here and there but can definitely put up 16 on any given night, very skilled at taking charges too. inside game is honestly Malone-esque

I only hated when he stands near the center circle, waitin for others to pass to him. He has to realize his off ball cutting is very effective in a way to help the offense.
