His team is melting down in the 4 th quarter And he sits there and watches and doesn’t call a timeout to try and stem the tide .

That was an embarrassment, when do they call a good set play that he designs like all good nba coaches ?

Pretty surprised at this take, TBH. I find Kidd has adjusted this year and have called timeouts for the team when the opposing teams are making their runs. Not sure if he just fell into old habits here, but one slip up shouldn’t call for his head. He’s done great coaching and adjustments this year - it really isn’t his fault the team went ice cold in the 4th.

They missed 12 shots in a row, terrible shots and he sat there like a turd . Not calling a timeout , not ripping into his players, not designing a play to get them a basket . You know the coaches, job .

The mavs have great offensive talent , they could fire Kidd tomorrow and they would still have great talent pm that side.he adds zero

He wants the players to also figure things out on their own. They can’t always rely on the coach to call timeouts and bail them out. The players need to simply play better and understand the game better. It shouldn’t be that hard.

I’m not here to defend JKidd, but the last mavs play when Lakers were up i think 99-101(?), then Kyrie made the 3, i can see the reasoning there not calling a timeout. Lakers had 2 weak defenders (at least in my eyes): Reaves and D’Lo. Reaves was on Kyrie and D’Lo on Timmy. Reaves was caught sagging off and Kyrie made him pay

The issue was not the TO, he called 2 when the Lakers started to catch up. Its him not making any adjustments & runnig a 3 guards lineup when we needed a stop. Also i’m a 100% sure Kidd doesn’t know wtf to do when our 3 ball is not falling. He doesn’t draw any play (thats if he knows any) its just Luka & Kyrie making their own

I’m no fan of Kidd. But the issue last night was less about timeouts but the fact we were up 20 jacking 3’s. Up that amount is when as a coach you push the ball in the full court and look at a fast break easy inside bucket and slow the half court game and again look to score inside. Live/die by the 3 drives me crazy.

You are right it’s not just timeouts , it’s lack of set plays that work and show any creativity. It’s the stoic ,calm to an extreme demeanor .

I think they needed a bucket more than they needed a stop. The lakers only scored 30 in the quarter - not the 40+ 3 guard lineups were giving up. The Lakers weren’t dominating the lane and made some timely 3s for a non 3-point shooting team. There’s no one in the NBA, much less this team, that can stop Lebron driving to the basket. I don’t think defense was the issue here.

I was surprised - and happy - that he brought in Timmy to close the 4th. He also couldn’t buy a bucket. I think the next player that can kickstart a stagnant offense is Hardy, but he hasn’t closed a game and his defense would’ve cost us the game.

Granted, I don’t think we deserved to win after that 4th, but I wouldn’t blame that on Kidd.
