Philadelphia Eagles (9-1) vs Buffalo Bill(6-5)
The Eagles continue the gauntlet part of their schedule taking on the Buffalo Bills at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles are coming off a big win against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead, while the Bills are coming off an impressive win of their own where they took revenge for their week 1 loss against the Jets. The Bills offense looked in sync following the dismissal of their OC and promotion of Joe Brady to the position. Josh Allen and the Bills will be a tough task for the Eagles, especially keeping Stefon Diggs in check since the Eagles have struggled against the pass this season. The Eagles will need to win the game in the trenches and get pressure on Allen forcing him to get the ball out quicker than he wants to and disrupt the timing on passes. Offensively Brian Johnson will need to figure out how to call a complete game and stop with the puzzling playcalls like running multiple screens in a row some of them the same plays just opposite sides. Had it not been for a Jalen Hurts audible the Eagles may have lost the game against the Chiefs Monday night. The Eagles will need some more big games from their playmakers to get another W to get through this tough part of their schedule before facing Dallas and San Francisco in the next two weeks. It should be a tough hard fought game against two physical teams that both have good lines. Go Birds!

Eagles 31 - Bills 13
Have spending a week churning on 37-10 loss to the Cowboys, the Eagles responded with a 31-13 win over the Bills. The Eagles defense set the tone and the Eagles pounded the ball on the ground on the windy New York afternoon. The Eagles took control by scoring touchdowns 83 seconds apart spanning halftime to build a 17-7 lead. Graham’s forced fumble of quarterback Josh Allen at Buffalo’s 24 led to Carson Wentz hitting Dallas Goedert for a 5-yard touchdown catch with 25 seconds left in the second quarter. On the second snap from scrimmage in the third quarter, Sanders followed Howard’s block of linebacker Matt Milano in bursting up the left sideline. The second-round draft pick celebrated his touchdown by leaping into a group of Eagles fans in the northeast corner of the endzone’s stands. After the Bills answered with a Devin Singletary score on a 28-yard catch on Buffalo’s next possession, the Eagles responded with Wentz overseeing a six-play, 68-yard touchdown drive capped by Boston Scott’s 4-yard touchdown run. The Eagles finished with 218 yards on the ground their highest total in a game since 2014.

Recap from Last Week’s Games.
Eagles
The Eagles traveled to Kansas City in a rematch from the Super Bowl, but this time the Eagles were ready for slick turf and brought the cleats for it. Unlike the Super Bowl where the Eagles couldn’t get to Mahomes at all Hasaan Reddick sacked him on the first series and the Eagles pressured Mahomes all day. Still Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to build a 10 point lead going into the half. The Eagles were able to overcome it though shutting down the Chiefs offense by causing timely turnovers and the Eagles were able to find the endzone twice before holding off a late Chiefs drive that was aided by some key Chiefs drops. But the Eagles game away with the win 21-17.
Bills
After changing out their offensive coordinator last week, the Bills took on divisional rival, the NY Jets in a rematch of week 1, where the Jets upset the Bills despite losing Aaron Rodgers for the year on the first series. This game the Bills left no chance for the upset. An anemic New York Jets offense managed to hit paydirt once, but that was all for Zach Wilson and company in a 32-6 drubbing at the hands of the Buffalo Bills and interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady in Week 11.The Jets allowed their first 300-yard concession since Week 6. Josh Allen finished with 275 passing yards despite Stefon Diggs only catching four passes for 27 yards. Allen received support from the James Cook-led rushing attack to post 23 of the Bills’ 32 points in the second and third quarters. Buffalo’s output brought up concerns about New York’s performance against playoff-level teams.

Philadelphia has won the most games in the NFL this season, tallying a league-best 9-1 mark. The Eagles have either held or shared the top record in the NFL every week dating back to Week 1 of 2022.
This is just the seventh time in franchise history that Philadelphia has started 9-1 through 10 contests, having previously achieved the feat during the 1949, 1960, 1980, 2004, 2017 and 2022 campaigns.
The Eagles have won 9+ games in six of the last seven seasons. Since Jeffrey Lurie’s first full year of ownership in 1995, Philadelphia is tied for the 4th-most winning seasons (19) in the league, trailing only New England (23), Green Bay (21) and Pittsburgh (21). Each of Lurie’s head coaching hires have won 9+ games at least twice in their first three seasons at the helm. Nick Sirianni is the only Eagles head coach with 9+ victories in each of their first three years with the team.
Nick Sirianni is the sixth NFL head coach since the 1970 merger to guide his team to a 9-1 starter or better in consecutive years, joining Tony Dungy (2005-06 Colts), Mike Shanahan (1996-98 Broncos), Marv Levy (1990-91 Bills), George Seifert (1989-90 49ers) and Don Shula (1972-73 Dolphins). Sirianni is the first to do so within their first three career seasons as a head coach since Shanahan in 1996-97.
Jalen Hurts is the fourth NFL QB since the 1970 merger to start 9-1 or better through 10 games in back-to-back seasons, joining Peyton Manning (2005-06 Colts), John Elway (1996-97 Broncos) and Jim Kelly (1990-91 Bills). He is the youngest NFL QB to accomplish this.
Including playoffs, Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts have combined for a 33-11 (.750) record. According to Elias Sports, that is tied for the 5th-most victories by a head coach-QB tandem during their first 44 games together since the 1970 merger, trailing only Andy Reid-Patrick Mahomes (35-9), Matt LaFleur-Aaron Rodgers (35-9), John Fox-Peyton Manning (34-10) and Don Shula-Dan Marino (34-10).
Nick Sirianni owns a 32-12 career record with the Eagles, marking the highest regular season winning percentage (.727) by a head coach in franchise history. It is also the 2nd-best figure by an NFL head coach since 2021, behind Andy Reid (.750, 33-11). Philadelphia has produced a 23-4 record since the start of last season, which amounts to a league-leading .852 winning percentage during that stretch.
Jalen Hurts has won 13 straight games against teams with winning records, marking the longest streak by an NFL QB since 1950.
The Eagles have produced a 26-2 (.929) record in the last 28 regular-season games started by Jalen Hurts (dating back to Week 15 of 2021), including 15-1 since Week 11 of 2022. Since 2021, Hurts has posted a .775 winning percentage (31-9), which leads all NFL QBs.
According to Elias Sports, Hurts is just the fourth NFL QB since 1950 to win 26+ games over the span of 28 starts during the regular season, joining Tom Brady, Jim McMahon and Joe Montana.
Brandon Graham will appear in his 189th career regular-season game, breaking a tie with David Akers (188, 1999-2010) for the most in team history. A 14-year NFL veteran, Graham is also tied with NFL legend Chuck Bednarik (1949-62) for the most seasons in Eagles history.
Graham (72.0) additionally ranks 4th on the franchise’s all-time sacks list, trailing only Reggie White (124.0, 1985-92), Trent Cole (85.5, 200514) and Clyde Simmons (76.0, 1986-93) in that category.
Philadelphia leads the league in third-down conversion rate (48.2%) as well as fourth-down conversion rate (76.5%). Each of those marks are the Eagles’ best through 10 games since at least 1994.
Since Week 6, Philadelphia ranks 1st in the NFL in red zone TD efficiency (75.0%). Overall, the Eagles have posted the 9th-best red zone offense (59.0%) in the league. Philadelphia is also averaging the 4th most offensive points per game (26.4) in the NFL this season, trailing only Miami (29.8), San Francisco (27.9) and Baltimore (26.8).
The Eagles have produced the 3rd-most pressures (175) in the league, behind Baltimore (185) and San Francisco (176). Philadelphia is 4th in the NFL in QB hits (74), trailing only Buffalo (79), Baltimore (76) and San Francisco (75), while also ranking 9th overall in sacks (31).

Matchups to Watch
Eagles Defense vs Josh Allen
The Eagles defense has done a decent job against mobile QBs this season and Josh Allen definitely fits that bill. He isn’t afraid to tuck it and run while lowering his shoulder for the extra yards and he likes to extend the play by holding onto the ball and moving outside the pocket. His play is very much high risk and high reward. When he is on he is one of the best players in football, but his play can also lead to turnovers. Through 11 games, Allen is tied for the league lead in interceptions with 12 and has fumbled four times. And this isn’t a one-year thing. Since he entered the NFL in 2018, Allen leads the league in interceptions with 72 and leads the league in fumbles with 56. There will be opportunities to force Allen into mistakes, espeically if the Eagles offense can score some points and put some additional pressure on Allen to make some plays. The Eagles should have some opportunities to get to Allen because of how much he likes to hold on to the football and look for the big play. If they can get to him and force a fumble or some INTs it will go a long way for getting a W for the Eagles.
The Eagles Running Game vs the Bills Rush Defense.
The Bills have a good secondary, but have struggled against the run this season. The Bills are 16th in the NFL in run defense, allowing 110.5 yards per game. But the Bills are also 29th in yards per attempt allowed at 4.5. But the Bills have been better against the run recently. After allowing at least 100 yards per game in five of their first six games, they’ve allowed 100 just once in their last five. Swift had a nice game against the Chiefs and is 3rd in the league in rushing this season. Johnson has gone away from the run in recent weeks especially before the Eagles bye, but if they can get Swift and the run game going it could be huge for the offense and open up the play action and RPO game for some big plays. And hopefully we see less of Kenneth Gainwell this week who has been abysmal carrying the football season.
Eagles Receivers vs the Bills Secondary
The Bills secondary is coming into this game banged up, the Bills top cornerback Tre’Davious White is out for the season with a torn Achilles. Their other starter Taron Johnson and top backup Dane Jackson both suffered concussions in Week 11. And even safety Taylor Rapp is in danger of missing this week after suffering a neck injury in the last game. And then S Micah Hyde (neck) and DB Cam Lewis (shoulder) were also limited participants to start the week. This is a banged up group of defensive backs that will have to rely on a couple of former Eagles on Sunday. Former Eagles seventh-round pick Jordan Poyer has turned into a Pro Bowl safety with the Bills and even at age 32 is still playing well. And 2017 draft pick Rasul Douglas will likely start the game at cornerback. Douglas has been a nice addition for the Bills, who picked him up at the trade deadline, but he lacks speed which could be an issue against AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. Even if the Bills are able to slow down one of the two talented WRs on the Eagles, odds are they will not be able to shutdown both, just like last week against the Chiefs where they shutdown Brown, but Smith was able to beat them.
The Eagles corners vs Steffon Diggs
Diggs has led the Bills in receiving the last three years and he’s going to do it again in 2023. Through 11 games, the Pro Bowler has 77 catches for 895 yards and 7 touchdowns. While Gabriel Davis is a solid No. 2 and rookie TE Dalton Kincaid is having a good season, the guy to stop is clearly Diggs. Diggs lines up in the slot a lot (159 slot snaps) which is where the Eagles are most vulnerable since losing Avonte Maddox for the season. Diggs is a great route runner which good hands so it will see how the Eagles matchup against Diggs and if they can take him away and force the Bills to beat him elsewhere, on the outside he will likely be matched up on Slay or Bradberry and inside on Roby, but I think wherever he lines up, they need to give help over the top with a safety to try to limit the big play.

On paper eagles should win this especially with the bills injuries but this is a prime letdown spot so I wouldn’t be that surprised if we show up flat too. We have the 2 biggest games of the season coming up the weeks following this and with this being an AFC opponent it really doesn’t do much for tiebreakers. Meanwhile, the bills really need this game being the 8 seed in the AFC right now. We’re gonna get their best shot.

So I know everyone is going to overreact if we look bad and lose to a weak bills team but I’ll be just as confident in this team as I am right now. Most important thing this week is to stay healthy - winning comes second.

2022 season, the Eagles were 10-10 Against the Spread

    2023 season, 6-2-2 ATS

Does this mean we are being underestimated? Perhaps we are better than people think?

Being 3.5 underdogs and winning in KC by 4 is actually a little impressive and promising I think…
