Still a bit butt hurt about yesterday and I know we didn’t do enough to win. However the NFL or the teams needs to figure out a way to make onside kicks worth a damn. Even the commentators were acting like it was over before it happened. It would be nice to have a little bit of hope.

I don’t have a solution either I’m just here to complain.

Personally, I like the idea being used in the USFL and XFL, one play to get a first down from 15 yards away, if you make it, your ball, if not a fail, ball goes to the defense. I think they spot the ball at the “kicking” teams 30 or 35 yard line and if you fail the “recieving” team gets the ball at the dead ball spot.

So much is being done in the name of player safety they’ve basically killed the onside kick

One way to do it might be to have the kicker just lift the ball really high in the air from the start (kind of how you could do with a soccer ball) and making it a sort of “jump ball “ instead of bouncing it off the ground

But idk man. And you’re right, they didn’t do enough to win, especially with the turnovers, everyone knew the onside kick loomed and everyone knew what the outcome was going to most likely be

I like the skyball idea, it’s at least putting on the teams to adapt to the new rules rather than trying what used to work. Not sure how well it would work with the shape of the ball though

I haven’t understood why no one has tried this, it seems way more likely to be successful then getting an erratic bounce on a ground ball with a stacked restriction line

I’d say if anything they could make the rules situational, like if you’re down by 6 or more in the final 2 minutes the ball doesn’t have to travel as far or something

I feel like the best method of success is having the kicker tap it and give the ball a nice bouncy roll on the ground so it just reaches 10 yards and have a line of players in front smoke the first line of defenders and then reinforcements behind to try and recover the ball. That, or kicking it hard to where that 4th or 5th bounce sends the ball up in the air and then it’s kind of a jump ball from there. Regardless of how it’s done it has to be executed perfectly and precisely placed.

TLDR: the success rate is lower than fuck no matter how it’s executed lol

Eh shouldn’t put ourselves in that situation to begin with.

There is no chance after they stopped allowing the team kicking off to run with the kicker as he started. Now it is a false start. I believe this was a player safety rule. Until that change is made or someone smarter than me comes up with a solution, nothing will change.

I know we didn’t do enough to win.

Hard disagree, players definitely had it within them but we made some really poor playcalling and management choices.

The fake punt reinvigorated the Packers sideline after we just built some momentum and we’re in the ascendency. If the bubble screen is a better play/play call were in the box seat for a chance at victory.
