Well if that’s the case then get rid of his dudes now. If Hackett’s offense only works when you have an all time great running it, then it’s not a good offense.

Exactly, but it seems like the whole thing is a package deal. Rodgers might choose to retire if the coaches are fired. At this point they might still need to do it

Jets didn’t give up any firsts for him. No way it’s worse than the Watson trade or the Herschel Walker trade

Wouldn’t even be close to worst trade in sports. I’d guess it’s not even top 50 worst trades of all time.

I think the trade up for darnold was worse. This isn’t even top 5 for the Jets.

I disagree. They were in need of a good young franchise QB. That trade guaranteed they were going to draft one of the top 3.

So, OP speaks to the arod deal as though it is done fully in hindsight. Applying the same benefit to the darnold deal, I think there’s no question that deal was worse.

Iirc, the Sam price was #6 overall and three years worth of 2nds to move to #3. This was an unproven prospect, and the price was signifigantly more via draft capital.

Vs a 2 time MVP, at the cost of moving back 2 slots in the first and two 2nds.

If the a rod deal doesn’t work out, it looks to be a reasonable gamble even in retrospect. The Sam deal in hindsight isn’t a disaster, but it’s worse imo.

You have to consider the situation at the time of these deals.

His about this? He comes back to prove he can, feels content, and retired. Maybe wins 3 games and fucks up the draft pick. I see this as worst case scenario, and entirely plausible
