This is legitimately the worst product I have ever seen Memphis put on a basketball court, and yes I have been watching for a long time. This is fucking ass.

Jenkins was heavily reliant on a strong defense, which I believe he can coordinate, and Ja’s offensive production + our rebounding prowess. Now we have lost those things he is incapable of putting together an offense. He is incapable of optimizing the talent he has on the court.

I know we are hurt and it’s a lot to ask. But holy shit the amount of possessions we had to watch where they were standing around the three point line gesturing vaguely at one another like ‘maybe you screen there?’… ‘Pick and roll maybe?’… ‘Do you wanna shoot? Do I?’

This is absolute garbage. Like historically bad offense. It’s both the personnel and the coach.

Agreed. He’s additionally hampered by not having that many ball handlers on the floor but I almost wish Des missed the game tonight to rest the ankle. Maybe? Jenkins has to develop something other than our current offense. Would love to see a good bit of Santi facilitating from the high post instead of a million handoffs.

There’s also certain basic requirements you’d hope he’d be able to gather out of these guys. Like they seem uncertain of who should bring the ball up every possession, as if they feel they should try to run the ball but aren’t sure whether they can. Like what’s the messaging?

        Are we crashing offensive boards?

Are attacking the paint? Are we a three point shooting team?

Are we trying to run a high paced offense? Are we comfortable with our half court offense right now?

We have zero identity out there. Guys that can’t create their own offense need consistent messaging and a philosophy to follow and I’m not convinced that exists for them right now.

          Total agreement here.

From a defensive gameplan standpoint I’m baffled at the mid range situation as well. We know a jenkins defense wants to protect the paint and not give up corner 3s, but in the game against the Heat and this game (minus Vince) we’re just giving mid range looks to one of the best mid range shooters in the league. Is that a player tendency thing (Roddy assuming the drive, etc) or is Jenkins legit not game planning for this? Bam shot open 13 footers 6-7 times in that game as well.

I know we’ve had some rough seasons in history but this has been the most unwatchable product in all of them.

Pretty sure for the first time in about 20 years I’m going to intentionally miss a game against the Wolves. I really hope I’m wrong but I don’t think it’s going to be pretty.

Obviously the guys didn’t play well but I’d love to see the coaching staff just try shit at this point. Anything offensively to change up the game plan. Defensively it’s frustrating watching guys go way under on known shooters, especially midrange this season. 3 pt shots are one thing but mid-range? Bam lit us up from 13 ft earlier this season and while some of the shots Booker hit tonight were all star shots, the first half and part of the 3rd quarter were wide open.

We all know Jenkins is limited with player options because of injuries, why not mix it up a bit with the game plan.

We should shoot ten threes a game. Just keep attacking the rim. Only one guy on our team at this moment can hit threes. I hate watching us stand around the three point line. 9 for 33.

Also just play lofton and gg more. We aren’t winning anyways. So what’s the harm? We really thinking biyombo is a future piece?

We just don’t really have any strengths to leverage into wins…

We don’t have shooting, so we don’t have spacing. We aren’t getting stops so we aren’t getting out in transition. We don’t have offensive rebounding so we aren’t getting second chance points, and we don’t have the size to dominate the paint…

I just don’t know what changes any coach could implement to turn the personnel we have healthy into a winning group
