Wemby through 15 games:
- Minutes Played: 30.2 (2nd-most on team)
- Points: 18.8 (1st)
- Rebounds: 9.5 (1st, both offensive and defensive)
- Assists: 2.5 (7th)
- Steals: 1 (tied with 2 others for 1st)
- Blocks: 2.6 (1st)
- Turnovers: 3.5 (1st)
Damn.
What’s the point of bringing Vassell off the bench? I thought we found something last game with the Vassell+Wemby pick and roll. Of course it worked so we never ran it again.
I liked the idea of staggering Vassell and Wembys minutes so that there’s always a scoring option on the floor. But given that they closed the game together I’m just gonna assume Vassell came off the bench because he’s coming back from injury.
I can hardly think of anything to fault Wemby in this game. Yeah, he bit on a couple of fakes, but come on; that’s like his calling card now. The one 3 where Curry missed, relocated and then hit, Wemby was still there. Amazing game by this guy.
The only thing with Wemby is cardio and knowledge. It’s crazy he’s doing all this and he still has no clue what he’s doing from an NBA knowledge perspective.
He still needs to can a few more of those threes if he’s going to keep taking them in such high volume. He also had a few bad helps on defense.
But apart from that, really good stuff from the rook.
The fact a 19 year old is damn near averaging 20 points is crazy tho
Averaging 20 while anchoring the defense. You’re usually pinching yourself if you find a rookie who can do either.
We’re a young team. So I expect such issues. That being said, you can see the dramatic improvement the last 2 games. It’s unfortunate that it hasn’t converted into wins, but kudos to this young squad.
Another infuriating game
It’s wild tho if they found Wemby 90% of the time he has a mismatch near basket he would be averaging 28-32 ppg
Honestly the team was pretty competitive this game. It’s unfortunate Zach had one of his worst games ever tonight but all around I can live with the effort at least. And I can’t wait until we get a real point guard I can’t handle another year of Jeremy at point. I’m not even mad at him because he’s being forced to play out of his natural position but it’s unbearable to watch and it isn’t conducive to winning.
