Hello everyone on this awesome subreddit! Wondering about reading habits…I’ve always been a 20 minutes before bed kinda person but I’d like to read more and be more spontaneous with my reading. Do you read a certain amount of pages or time per day? Or just read whenever and how ever much you want? Maybe a certain time of day? Basically I guess Explain to me your daily reading habits or routine ! If you feel like it I mean.

Any answers appreciated! Thank you so much!!

end of day cozy in bed reader here🙂

it’s my favorite way of unwinding… especially since my mind tends towards ruminating on stupid shit I said or did( or thought I said and thought I did 😂)

    it helps me settle down

Usually an hour. If I’m alone I can read in bed til I fall asleep, so many hours. Also, if the books reads smoothly, I can keep going longer. The more tension in the book, the more I want to devour it.

Something I started doing a while ago and has done wonders for me is to read in most moments when I’d use my phone - ie when I’m eating, in the bathroom, doing simple chores that use only one hand, or even walking lol Since I have very little time - full time working + uni - I just put my reading in every single empty time slot I have. And in a day that amounts to 1-2h even. Plus it gets me off my phone, which is great.

that depends, i like to start my day with reading, usually a hour, mostly fanfiction but i am straying more towards books these days im trying to finish my 50 book goal for the year. I would have more on the count if i wasnt reading fanfiction so much. I also read at night while working with my husband instead of tv or movies we do audiobooks, we just finished the abridged brave new world bbc narration yesterday 2 hours long just like a movie. I am in the middle of two other audiobooks currently and thinking of starting a third today. So for audiobooks 2-4 hours a day, for reading ebooks or fanfiction 1-3 hours probably. I sometimes read while i work on my own instead of with my husband.

I read about 1-3 hours per day. I think the average is closer to the lower end, maybe 75 to 90 minutes. On weekends it can be 2 hours and more. Not really a certain time, but usually sometime in the afternoon - I normally read to take a break from studying, and I study most of the afternoon. I have an “office” / computer room where I study, so for reading I go to the living room to get into a different headspace. Sometimes I also read in the evening / before bed, and that’ll drive the numbers up a bit. 2-3 times a week, most commonly on the weekends, I’ll go to a cafe or the library to read, and just read for 2 hours or more in one go.

For me it depends on the book I’m reading. Some I have to force myself to read for 30 minutes before bed. Others, the good ones, go with me everywhere I go, and I read them every spare moment I get!
