Tuning in to today’s OKC-76ers game, and boy…it’s crazy watching thunder players actively seek out Chet. It’s not just SGA. It feels as if the entire lineup looks to put him in ideal situations, and not situations where he’s forced to make a horrible shot. How I wish our Spurs could do the same.

Oh my gosh!! You mean that a team with a potential MVP candidate as their lead guard is better at basketball than a team with a 20 year old that has played the 1 for all of 16 games?!? I would have never thought such a thing.

I got downvoted in the NBA sub for saying it, but Holmgren has a major advantage in playing with SGA and other high BBI Q players that are capable of making high quality assists for him to score. Wemby doesn’t have those advantages with Sochan at the point guard.

I think when that gets brought up regarding Chet’s supporting cast and the ROTY race, it’s usually to undermine how well he’s been playing which might be why you’re getting downvoted for it. We can speculate how well Wemby would be doing if he had a similar supporting cast, but the reality right now is that Chet has been playing really well with what he’s got, and with the opportunities he’s been given.

I do kinda dislike how it’s become a tear someone down to prop someone else up mentality. I think they’re both fun to watch and I look forward to hopefully what is the next greatest Big Man rivalry in this new era

Yeah I’m not trying to undermine his performance, the dude is balling at a really high level. But it’s still true that his teammates make him 20% or so better. He’s be averaging fewer points and having to settle for harder shots without his supporting cast.

You mean the team that won less than 25 games two years in a row to get top picks that are just now gelling as a team, 4 years later?

Appreciate all the great insights from my fellow Spurs fans. Sometimes I just need a little boost in morale. I’ve grown to accept that we’re setting up to be another lottery team, but I was at least holding out hope Wemby would snatch that ROTY right up (know it doesn’t mean much, but it would be a small victory for our fanbase)

There’s like 65 games to go this season no need to talk about the ROTY in the past tense

Wemby is going to waste a few good years in San Antonio, as long as Pop is there, and the supporting cast can’t get it through their thick skulls that they aren’t the main event.

Currently, it’s a team of generals and no soldiers.

Pop’s tactics are outdated. He openly stated that he is learning Wemby. You are a HOF coach. This is not how it works.

I hate OKC because they’re doing everything the Spurs refuse to do. I wish them the best, until we get it together down here.

Let the downvotes fly. I’m exhausted with this team, and the “just keep doing the same thing and hope for change” fans.
