Would’ve gone to overtime if the cavs didn’t mess up that 3 alley opps and fast break if in the 1st quarter
This Cavs game had everything:
-Garland minor injury that knocked him out
-Mitchell Inefficient shooting on bad shot selection. Hogs the ball with the game on the line
-Mobley efficient scoring for 3 qtrs, then not getting the ball in the 4th
-A 4th qtr offensive meltdown
-Questionable decisions by JB
It’s like watching a full season in 2 1/2 hours!
Late game execution was…better tbh. A lot of Don rock head ball but a nice ATO to Strus, good use of Mobley, and the tying shots were fine.
Just so bad before that without DG
Nah but dude you’re just a DOOMER who wants to see the Cavs burn!!! How dare you make any sort of logical analysis about why the Cavs lost
They say Donovan is still out there throwin em up
Live by the Don, die by the Don
Idk what the fuck that was, idk if Mitchell is just so out of it and no longer cares but something has to give. If im the cavs players im calling out Donovan in front of his face about that shit. Tough shooting night is one thing but the final 3 minutes of him was him trying to throw the game.
This team ain’t a playoff team sadly
We should trade Donovan for Jaylen Brown, Mikal Bridges, or Brandon Ingram. Dude refuses to play in a system and instead dribbles and jukes with the ball for 20 seconds before laying up a brick
You just named 3 selfish self creators who are worse than mitchell in said area. You cannot be serious.
Out of all those guys you just mentioned only BI would be available and a good shout. Jaylen brown not available and no thanks, mikal Bridges not available and no thanks
Those dudes are wack and can’t create. We already had that team it got bounced in the play in
I would love if the Cavs could still run plays in crunch time. I’ve never understood why so many players choose to go hero ball instead. If it doesn’t make sense to do during the rest of the game, I don’t get why it makes sense to in crunch time.
With that being said, Mobley looked good, Allen looked great, Niantic shot is slowly progressing to the mean, the big to big passing between Mobley and Allen is looking unstoppable, and Porter Jr needs more run.
Tough loss. Mobley is ahead of schedule.
Mitchell was off, we lost Garland (don’t call him soft you’d probably be crying on the floor if you took a knee to the head), lot of bad shots all around, defense was not great, but JA did have a very good night
2-2 in this gauntlet of a 4 game stretch and of course we get blessed with a back-to-back game tomorrow because the schedule makers hate us apparently. Regroup and come back tomorrow

Guys it might be time to face the music… the Donovan trade isnt working. It was fun and it helped us move off of our bust of a 14th overall pick and sexton but its time to hit a soft reset and come to grips that Donovan just isnt gonna cut it. Donovan is a amazing player dont get me wrong. Top 15 in the league. I just rather watch lesser guys play winning basketball and lose some good games then continue watching this abomination
Donnie traded before all Star break?
JB fired before the same?
Which one happens first, if either?
Darius and the offense looks so much better without Donovan. It was bound to be seen eventually as many of us worried when the trade happened.
Donovan needs the ball in his hands. He isn’t a PG either.
Max S. Can work. Slide him or Caris to the 2, trade Mitch and get us some assets / a SF back. Let’s right this ship.
Keep Okoro still because him, max, and Caris are decent dudes who can all spot start at that position. Okoro still needs to develop. Caris and Max can hold that position down. I’d do max just for shooting purposes. Caris is a better sixth man.
What’s new, this fanbase is blaming Mitchell for us losing again and scapegoating him. He was the only one in the clutch who the Lakers cared about defending and the only one who can actually break down a defense. You think the Lakers care about guarding Porter? Allen? Mobley? Strus is a three-point shooter and not much of an creator.
It’s the same lazy narratives about Mitchell being a chucker and selfish when it’s not true at all. Would you rather of had Mobley post up? Allen post up? Porter shoot at the rim against Davis? People wan’t Mitchell to “just set Allen and Mobley up”. How does he do that when the defenses don’t respect them and his other shot-creators are Strus and Porter? Porter is a PG who can’t shoot and that being his other ball-handler is a recipe for disaster in crunch time.
It bugs me that people still don’t realize how much of an problem playing Allen and Mobley at the end of games is. For all those wondering “why is our offense so bad at the end of games?” It’s simple. You aren’t a contender in the modern NBA playing only 1 or two guys that can make plays (for themselves and others) or dribble the ball and only two or three guys that can shoot. We played one guy who could make plays at an elite level at the end of the game - Mitchell. We played two guys who could shoot - Strus and Mitchell. It’s way too predictable. Especially when one of Mitchell or Garland aren’t playing. Mobley isn’t Giannis and probably never will be. He needs to be a center with four out spacing for us to maximize him and our team. Him and Allen is just too easy for teams to defend at the end of games when most teams have three or four ball handlers and shooters at a time.
Keep scapegoating Mitchell because it takes no effort at all and is incredibly lazy. I’m not saying he can’t play better either. It’s hard for him to do that without Garland playing and with a bunch of guys who can’t shoot or dribble.
This is the most non doomer take i can muster:
The Donovan mitchell situation isnt over but everyone has to sit him down and tell him he has to play offball. Him playing with the ball is stalling the offense so hard its like they hit a brick wall. Garland needs to have the ball in his hands and the reigns to the offense the whole time. If Garland cant stay healthy its time to go get a vet pg if you dont think cpj can do it (i dont see why he cant), or convert cpj and make him the permanent backup.
The only issue is im not so sure Donovan will accept this, im also not sure if he respects jb enough to have a serious conversation, im not sure he cares enough to change since hes been this way his whole career. I think thats why last years cavs worked, he had a actual pg he let run the show in rubio and garland. Now it seems that Donovan is content with being the ball dominant guard. It just cant happen that way moving forward
