I know it’s very early, but where do you guys see the Rockets’ pick being slotted in the upcoming draft? Will Houston actually TRY to win games? Even if they TRY to win games will the Rockets lose and tank anyway? Enquiring minds want to know your thoughts.

I think the Rockets will tank again and be top 4 unless they get jumped and pushed down based on what little we have seen so far.

All their offseason moves indicated they want to win games this year. But they’re not any good, they lost to two teams that were bad last year, and their upcoming schedule is BRUTAL. Like, I think there’s a legitimate chance they start the season 3-13, and that’s giving them the benefit of the doubt that they’ll beat somebody better than them.

I think they’re going to try to win, but it’s not going to go well for them. Their rationale for the offseason seemed to be “we don’t want to give the Thunder a top pick,” so they tried to skip steps in the rebuild. And now they’re left with a really weird roster, still mostly with young guys, and the main vets being super inefficient.

Other teams are likely going to incentivized to tank harder, since Houston seems to expect to lose their pick. But I think there’s a pretty good chance that pick winds up being 6 or 7.

They didn’t bring on Fred van Vleet and Dillon Brooks to tank. It’s early, they’ll win some games.
