Let me preface this by saying that I don’t think he’s available but I’m asking because I’m really tired of seeing posts in r/Thunder that OKC could get him for like Giddy, Poku and 2 first round picks. I think that is a terrible trade for UTA and doubt that the Jazz are looking to trade him at all. If UTA would trade him to OKC what would they have to get in return. I’m genuinely curious what people who follow the team think.

For all the talk about SGA in this post. He’s miles ahead of Lauri. Chet and him are untouchable.

Danny Ainge will listen to any pitch from any team, especially if it includes multiple first rounders.

Finally, Giddy ain’t going anywhere but jail.

Let me make this as clear as possible and please pass this along to the rest of your fanbase.

Unless you include Chet or SGA, the Jazz will not even entertain a conversation.

Lauri is a perennial All Star, just barely entering his prime, averaging 25 on near 40/50/90 splits with low usage, on a team friendly contract for 2 years, a perfect #2 next to almost any star they bring in, and has talked about how much him and his family love Utah and all signs currently point to him understanding it may take some time and being patient with the rebuild. Similar to how SGA was with you guys.

The Jazz consider him a cornerstone to their rebuild and has significantly shortened our timeline. That is a player they want to build around and find a #1 through trades or the draft to pair with not trade away for anyone other than possibly a top 15 player in the league.

I love what OKC is doing and SGA & Chet are nuts. Best of luck the rest of year. But I’d say you’d be better looking elsewhere for a trade target currently.

Things can change quickly and if the Jazz don’t look playoff competitive next year it may be harder for them to convince Lauri to stay so who knows

Pretty sure he’s married, so he’s not available. We were all disappointed too.

Utah will only trade Lauri if he indicates that he won’t be re-signing. Period.

And if they do trade him, it would take two of Cason, Jalen, and Dieng, plus three picks minimum.

He’s a 7ft All-Star Sniper entering his prime making leas than 20M. He’s not getting traded for nothing.

I think he’s available enough that you could get him if you really really want him. We’re not planning on trading him though so it’d take a pretty big overpay and centered around a good young player that’s not Josh Giddey along with a boatload of picks.
