Haven’t seen this topic discussed too often, curious on everyone’s thoughts. IMO the big issue is subpar player development. It seems like we draft players that just end up plateauing after a year or two. When was the last time we drafted a player who far exceeded their expectations? The teams that come to mind that stand out in this area in recent years would be OKC, Spurs and Golden State. I’m referring to players that make you say to yourself, “I didn’t see him becoming that good coming out the draft”.
I think this comes back to not putting them in good spots, with good vet players. Senguin looks like a stud, is it just a coincidence or because they brought in some adults for him to play with? Year ne of Weaver we competed, Bey looked a lot better than any other year here- because we had Plumlee and Grant starting with him. We took on dead body of Harris instead of a good, starting vet in his prime because we wanted to “see what we had”. Who the fuck didnt know what we had? Who didnt know Stew is/was a backup?
