Haven’t seen this topic discussed too often, curious on everyone’s thoughts. IMO the big issue is subpar player development. It seems like we draft players that just end up plateauing after a year or two. When was the last time we drafted a player who far exceeded their expectations? The teams that come to mind that stand out in this area in recent years would be OKC, Spurs and Golden State. I’m referring to players that make you say to yourself, “I didn’t see him becoming that good coming out the draft”.

Part of helping players grow is putting them into positions where they can thrive & succeed. In my opinion, this is easier when you have some bonafide NBA vets that can shoot & play defense blended in with our crop of 7-8 20-22 year olds.

To start the year we looked a totally different team simply by having Alec Burks play at a high level. Since his injury he’s been horrible. Some player development is down to the players themselves but the organization hasn’t done our young guys any favors either in how they’ve constructed this roster.
