No dead pixels, no sub pixel weird colorations, just a totally fine normal Steam Deck with a fun color way. If you’re an owner of the LE waiting for it to arrive, freaking out about it because you’re seeing all the issues here, fear not there is a good chance your Deck is going to be fine.
my LE just fine no issues The majority of the 99.99% who received the Limited Edition (LE) didn’t experience any dead pixels. It’s just that those who did have dead pixels are the ones talking about it here. It gives the impression that there are many cases when, in reality, it’s not the case because everyone who didn’t have issues didn’t come here to discuss it
Same here. 100% satisfied with mine.
Mine 0 issues
Yeah mine was doing great for the first day too. Then on the second day, one pixel died randomly.
Love my Samsung panel! :)
Got the LE deck. I don’t know or care what screen I have. I did the dead pixels test after gaming for several hours. Didn’t see anything. Screen looks absolutely stunning and crisp. Colors pop. All this chatter about different screens and glossy/etched glass is WAYYY over blown. I think the people who aren’t having any issues are mostly most posting because they’re playing their decks 😋
Sadly I got the reverse.
LCDeck Flawless and 0 issues aside from a bad fan bearing 1 year in. (I replaced myself. Normal wear and tear to me)
OLED LE - stuck and dead pixels.
If valve’s selling point on the refreshed model is the screen and I already have a steamdeck.
The screen you give me better be perfect or it will be returned for refund and I’ll use my existing steamdeck.
3-5 dead pixels on a NEW device should not, and will never be the norm for me. Nor tolerated.
They will 100% be RMAed until I get a fully working screen.
Dumb analogy:
if I buy a 1200x800 box of chocolates from the chocolate store.
Only to find 5 of them missing from a sealed container.
And I go to return the box because I clearly didn’t get what I paid for, and the clerk tells me. "Oh that’s normal, we don’t accept a refund for boxes of chocolates missing 5 or less pieces from a sealed package.
I would be pissed. I wouldn’t buy from that store again and I would never eat that brand of chocolate again because their quality control is shit.
So far valve is honoring RMAs for dead pixels so it’s not ALL bad yet. But damn dude. I spent 679.99 on a handheld device that was supposesed to be limited edition. Why was the QA, THIS bad?
Canadian here, my LE arrives tomorrow and obviously praying for no dead pixels. Personally, I’ve never had to RMA any hardware in my life before. I’m usually the one reading about other people’s problems than running into my own. So I’m trying to be optimistic that the dead pixel issue isn’t as wide spread as this sub makes it sound. I’d actually be curious to see a poll result here for those that have dead pixels vs those that don’t.
I’ve done an RMA with Valve before and other than the length of time (somewhere between 2-3 weeks for me in the US) the whole process was super simple and streamlined. Get label, drop it off, wait.
But odds are you will be fine. Definitely take a close look when you first unbox/setup but I’m hopeful you won’t have any issues.
A lot of the negativity gets highlighted because most people that have a perfect device don’t post about it. I’m glad yours is perfect too! I also dodged that bullet and my LE is pure perfection
Same with mine, very happy
Mine seems excellent with the exception of a rattly X button. I can overlook it.
Screen is sublime.
No creaks in the frame.
No issues with Dpad or joysticks.
People are really sleeping on the fact the BOE screen potentially supports a better refresh rate, and the 22g lighter.
Same here. Appears perfect upon first inspection.
I had 2 bad decks in like July-August… 3rd time was the charm. Was nervous about getting the OLED cuz of my previous experiences but it loooooks like mine’s pretty perfect!
Also got a BOE LE, no dead pixels, WiFi is great. Bit of a static hum over the headphone jack, like a grounding issue, but everything else is pretty darn great!
My LE OLED is perfect as well!
