Clonezilla
Sadly I got the reverse.
LCDeck Flawless and 0 issues aside from a bad fan bearing 1 year in. (I replaced myself. Normal wear and tear to me)
OLED LE - stuck and dead pixels.
If valve’s selling point on the refreshed model is the screen and I already have a steamdeck.
The screen you give me better be perfect or it will be returned for refund and I’ll use my existing steamdeck.
3-5 dead pixels on a NEW device should not, and will never be the norm for me. Nor tolerated.
They will 100% be RMAed until I get a fully working screen.
Dumb analogy:
if I buy a 1200x800 box of chocolates from the chocolate store.
Only to find 5 of them missing from a sealed container.
And I go to return the box because I clearly didn’t get what I paid for, and the clerk tells me. "Oh that’s normal, we don’t accept a refund for boxes of chocolates missing 5 or less pieces from a sealed package.
I would be pissed. I wouldn’t buy from that store again and I would never eat that brand of chocolate again because their quality control is shit.
So far valve is honoring RMAs for dead pixels so it’s not ALL bad yet. But damn dude. I spent 679.99 on a handheld device that was supposesed to be limited edition. Why was the QA, THIS bad?
I wanted to keep my LE Deck shell “unopened” but still transfer from old deck to new.
Docking Station w/ 3 USB Ports
Bootable Clonezilla USB
External HDD that is bigger than old Deck drive size.
USB keyboard.
Boot old deck into recovery menu, then into Clonezilla on USB.
Take a backup image of your old deck to external drive.
Reverse process on LE OLED, don’t forget to expand the partition of OLED drive size is bigger
I have had this issue on deck since day 1 LCD released I also encounter it on my windows PC when trying to make custom layouts for Windows games.
I think it’s a controller mapping/software bug on the controller mapping side and not your deck.
I’ve also noticed games stop respecting your custom layout when in use for an hour +
I did say “look at every pixel” but I think he/she’s taking it a bit out of context for a “gotcha” or something.
…but that’s literally what you do. You scan the screen with your eye balls and determine if any of the 960,000 pixels…are dead.
I’m not sure what your getting at.
Sure thing.
I googled “dead pixel test” while in desktop mode on the deck.
It brought me to a website where I can run a pixel test.
It displays a full screen - single color image, you can inspect your screen for pixels that aren’t working.
Tapping the screen, changes the color.
It rotates through the RGB colors White and Black. Look at every pixel on each colored background and determine if any are not working.
My personal experience.
-LCDeck (Flawless, aside from fan failure after 1 year of use, I replaced myself.)
-Limited Edition OLEDeck (RMAing immediately due to dead pixels)
If the selling point of your refreshed model is the screen, and I already own an LCDeck. There better not be a single dead pixel on a 1280x800 screen. It’s glaringly obvious it’s defective whenever I attempt to use it. Can’t look past it because the pixel is full dead, and in the middle of the display.
I can understand some dead pixels slipping by QA in larger panels (4k) and bigger batches but this is just poor poor poor poor QA.
I expected more out of the Limited Edition model.
I’m out here laughing at all the posts about just putting Vaseline on your deck for stuck buttons and not RMAing for dead pixels.
You all got to be smoking crack if you think I’m spending 679.99 on a handheld device with ANYTHING wrong with it.
Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst: Ephinea Private Server.
Install on steamdeck through Lutris.
Reliving the old classics.
Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst - Ephinea Private Server
There is a Lutris installer for it. There is HD texture packs. There are .LUA Mods. You can use the Steam Input to map F1-12 and 0-9 onto the SteamDeck touch pads.
Feels SO Retro Future.

Phantasy Star Online: BlueBurst Ephinea
I think there’s an option in game mode display settings to force a lower resolution to increase display compatibility.
Try turning that on and redock.
