The Magic have the 2nd best record in the east. I look at their roster and don’t see a ton more talent than the Pistons. So what is it about their roster construction or chemistry that makes us look like dog stink in comparison?

They built a contender with less draft capital and less cap space than Detroit had over the same period lmao

They have a front office with an eye for talent is the difference.

Eh, they got assets from: vooch, aaron gordon and fournier. We had negative assets. I hate the pistons too but we gotta stop with the misinformation. However, we theoretically shiuld have as much talents as them now but we are dumpster trash

They did have draft capital that they gathered from trading Aaron Gordon and Vucevic. They also nailed their picks in Franz and Paulo. Suggs is coming around and is a tough defender. Cole is running the bench mob. All draft picks but with direction.

Weaver has drafted 5 players who were on the all-rookie team. They haven’t taken the next step. Coaching is usually who’s to blame there.

Ppl saying Franz would be the best player in Detroit as if he would look as good with the dogshit spacing.

It’s honestly kind of weird. They aren’t really good anything in terms of raw stats. FG% is middling, 3P% is worse than ours on nearly the same volume, they turn the ball over a good amount and foul a lot. The only thing I see them stand out in is free throw attempts and even then, their FT% isn’t too good either. This to me just tells me that they’re winning games on the defensive end. So basically they managed to get guys who can be at least average offensively and a plus on the defensive end.

Paolo, Franz and WCJ would all be the best player on this team by a lot.

In what way do you think our talent is close to the Magics? Paolo and Franz would be our best two players

I’m a pretty big Franz fan and I like the upside of Franz and Paolo as a foundation. I can grant they are better than our two best players right now, but I think Cade and Duren are pretty close.

And they have some guys who can actually shoot and create offense. Cole Anthony would be Detroit’s best scorer.

One funny thing about Orlando. Think about Troy Weaver and the way he filters thru failed first rounders. Okafor, Josh Jackson, RJ Hampton, etc.

The one guy Troy skipped over was Moritz Wagner. He was sitting out there for minimum wage and Troy said, Naw.

    Passed on a sharp-shooting big

Orlando is a good comparison because they illustrate what happens on rebuilding as a reboot. They gave up on Aaron Gordon, Oladipo, Vucevic and went into Rebuild, Part 2

It wouldn’t surprise me if Detroit ends up doing something similar
