My vote is one of the following: Butker, Thuney, or Justin Reid.

I think Thuney is one of the most underrated player signings of the past decade. He has been lights out for the past 3 years and is a top 3 guard each and every game but gets next to no credit. He has like 5 penalties in 3 years and has just been nearly perfect. Additionally, Butker had his struggles last year… but that was following an injury, and yet he STILL came up strong and won us the SuperBowl.

Justin Reid has been an elite Safety IMO for the past couple years. He came up huge as our backup kicker, and other than a couple plays (where a helmet fell in the wrong place for him to trip), or the fact that he’s been nearly our best coverage player outside McDuffie and Sneed, he’s been well well worth the signing.

What are your thoughts? Is there anyone I missed? Outside those 3 the only one I can think of is maybe Tranquill but it’s a bit too early for that.

It’s undoubtedly Leo Chenal. Did you know he has more tackles, sacks and TFL’s than Willie Gay?

He’s played like 120 less snaps than Gay too.

He’s a very good chess piece that can line up at DE, ILB and OLB.

And the video of him climbing up the side of the SB parade bus is iconic

Butker for sure, having a great kicker is so huge imo. Agreed Reid was a great signing though!

Reading some of these comments are interesting.

I think many have turned this into “guys I like” vs the original question regarding who is underrated.

We all like George K. He’s good starting NFL DE caliber player. I think he’s probably viewed that way by many around the league making noise in just his 2nd year. That’s properly rated.

Saw one person mention McDuffie. He has a chance at all pro this year. This is the polar opposite of underrated.

I could buy that Danna is underrated. Seems like for years whenever he came in, he produced. Nothing has changed. Well his time will finally come. He’s going to get paid after this year. So maybe there’s an argument he’s also property rated. But for years it did seem like he fell into that underrated category so I could see either side of this one.

Here’s one for this year. Mike Edwards. Outside of that long play he gave up against Smith in the Eagles games, I can’t remember him doing anything but making key plays for us pretty much all year. A guy nobody ever gave a second thought comes in and has played a key role all year long. That’s underrated.
